Hey, I'm not going to complain about the fact that this should come included with the Manhattan Portage messenger bags. Well, I just did. But that's not the point and it wouldn't be fair rating a product on something that has nothing to do with it's intrinsic quality.Now, for the review part. The pad secures itself to any strap you decide to put it on with one of the most gratuitous displays of velcro i've seen on an accessory, then you're good to go. The pad itself is rather stiff, but comfortable nonetheless. The fact that this is a rather large pad makes me glad to have it on my side when I carry heavy loads. I'm sure this will save you from a lot of pain if you're the kind of person to have either shoulder pains or the one that has to haul lots of cargo by itself. If you're not carrying at least a little weight this pad will just not bend over your shoulder and try to lodge itself on either end of the strap, far away from your shoulder.

I’ll just come right out and say it from the beginning.. this is a product you should definitely consider!I ride a commuter bike close to ten months out of the year and I ride with a Manhattan Portage 1610 Messenger Bag. This shoulder strap matches up perfectly with the carry strap and reduces the load weight strain almost completely! It has ample padding and the most secure hook and loop closure I have ever seen in a product. This will not wear out even after years of hard use. MP uses the best Cordura fabrics around to produce hard use gear for the end user. MP products were made with couriers in mind that spend long days and nights outside in all of the elements. They need a product that will hold up and MP delivers every time!

I find it nearly laughable that this simply is not included with the bags. I literally searched every pocket on my Standard looking for a proper shoulder strap. It did not come with it. Upsale it's called.. and upsaled I was.The pad is as you should expect, light, comfortable, easily attached and well made.

It does not stretch nor did I really want it too. I use on my guitar strap. It’s very stiff. So I rolled it up in a ball , put some rubber bands around it and let it sit for a couple of days. It is now “broken in “ and fits great.

Works great on shoulder strap bags to lessen the burden. It is padded heavily and mitigates the normal thin strap on Manhattan Portage shoulder bags. In the end though, I felt that shoulder bags just aren't as good as backpacks. Messenger bags put too much stress on one shoulder, sway, and don't provide back heat like backpacks do.
