nice idea but the microphone is poor design
I loved this item when I first bought it- so much that I bought a second one for the wife. Unfortunately, within 2 months I could no longer shut the unit off. Pressing the microphone in is how you shut it off and the mechanical switch would no longer keep the mic pressed in- BlueAnt was prompt in replacing it but I fear once it goes off warranty I'll be dealing with the same issues- the mic just doesn't feel like a quality unit when you push it in to shut it down. I would not recommend this to others.

Does the job
I looked through many reviews and settled on this for use in my car. It synced up with my Samsung Blackjack II right away and operation is very easy. So far, everyone I've talked to says they can hear me fine, although it's obvious to them I'm in a car. Sometimes the speaker volume tends to fade a bit making it hard to hear the other party, but generally it works quite well. I've had a few problems getting the microphone post to latch properly back in the unit when turning it off, and have found that it takes a push at just the right angle, but it's not hard to make it work. As others have mentioned, the battery is strong and sticks to the visor clip securely. The visor clip is the only thing I'd really like to change. My visor is very thick, and the clip won't fit on all the way. But it's still useable. This is my first bluetooth device so I don't have a lot to compare this to. But it's much better than driving with the cellphone held up to my ear. Overall, I'm very happy with the device.Update Dec 2008 - I've now had this for nearly a year and still am very happy with it. I love the convenience and comfort. Just hop in the car, push the mic to activate, and you're good to go. No fumbling with finding where you left an earpiece, or fitting one to your ear. Almost never need to worry about battery life. Sound quality is acceptable, although not great. But compares OK to the Jawbone II that I also use.I did have a problem with the mic that others have mentioned. It would get stuck in the off position or the on position. This would happen occasionally and take a bunch of fiddling to get it to work, then would be OK for a while. Finally it got stuck for good in the on position about 8 months after I bought it. I figured a device like this would be out of warranty, but checked and discovered it had a 2-year warranty. A few e-mails exchanged with Blue Ant support and they gave me an RMA and replaced the unit. The new one seems to have a much better feel to the mic mechanism. I haven't had one problem with it.While I was without the unit, I really missed it. I have the Jawbone II, which works quite well. But I make a lot of short trips in the car, and I really prefer using the Blue Ant Supertooth because it's so quick and easy to turn on and be available in case I get an important work phone call. I only use the Jawbone if I have others in the car and want a more private conversation, or want a lengthy conversation and want the slightly better sound quality. All in all, the Supertooth is a very good product, and Blue Ant has provided very good customer support.

great for 6 weeks
Battery life is great; I had no problems syncing my phone; voice quality seems very good. So why 1 star? Because after 6 weeks I cannot turn it off - the "arm" that you push back in to turn it on & off will no longer stay in. Yes, it is still under warranty, but apparently the only way to obtain warranty service is to return it at my expense & wait while they decide if it qualifies for warranty repair or replacement. I realize this is not unheard of, but I find it completely unacceptable that I should have to pay the shipping on an item that lasted just 6 weeks. I have contacted the manufacturer by phone & by email & they have cheerfully told me I could just live with it this way & go through the process of connecting & disconnecting the phone connection every time to reduce the draw on the battery since I can no longer turn it off; otherwise I can pay to ship it back & wait to see what they decide to do. They also cheerfully told me that although my position on this seems quite reasonable that they have never handled any warranty request any differently, as if their inflexibility & general crappy service was somehow supposed to make me feel better about the whole thing.

good product
I drive a lot for work, and California doesn't allow drivers to hold the phone. I wanted a speakerphone that would connect with more than one device. Unfortunately, that capability isn't what I had hoped for in this unit. I wanted a unit that would switch to the active device, to link up when I'm dialing a call, or to answer a call. Although this says it connects to "up to 5 devices" ... it does it one at a time, and only automatically connects to the last device it was paired with; to switch device pairing, you have to put it in the pairing mode, and initiate the pairing on your phone/device. For me, that makes the "multiple pairing" claim a bit of nonsense; certainly it's not feasible to switch devices while you're driving.Other than that, I really like this unit. Voice quality is clear, operation is simple (even without looking at it), battery life is great, and the automatic volume works well. I bought a unit for myself last year, and this one was a gift for my sister (who hates using an earpiece). She only has the one cell phone, and is very happy with the way this works.

BlueAnt is great! Worth the money
I have three other earpiece Bluetooths, and BlueAnt is by far the best, with the best sound quality for incoming and outgoing calls. My family and friends always told me my ear Bluetooths made me sound like I was underwater, but BlueAnt is clear.I have glanced at other reviews, and share a couple 'concerns'. First, unlike devices connecting to my ear, I frequently forget to turn off the BlueAnt, because I'm not wearing it, so I have to make a concerted effort to turn it off when leaving my car. Luckily, it holds a charge for a long time. Secondly, you need to use two hands when depressing the mic to turn it on or off, otherwise you push it off the visor. Third, and it is distracting at night, is the flashing blue light in your face while you're driving.Having noted the above, I think overall it's a great simple device, that I hope will last for a while. My 'other' devices use to "disconnect" frequently, but not so with BlueAnt. I've rarely had a disconnect.I've recommended this product to others, since California just initiated there "hands-free" law July 1, 2008.
