When touring for her debut album Is Your Love Big Enough? came to a close, Lianne La Havas headed to Jamaica with her mother for a long-awaited holiday that evolved into an experience of self-discovery. She enjoyed emotional reunions with long-lost relatives; embraced Kingston's clubs; and even jammed in front of her family for the first time during a session with legendary dancehall/reggae producer Stephen McGregor. Exploring her roots inspired La Havas's writing. Lyrically, she says, the songs she wrote are almost all related to "the feeling of who you are and where you come from." And musically, La Havas took inspiration from Jamaica's love of grooves, rhythms, and syncopation. McGregor ultimately joined in the making of Blood along with a rich collection of others, including Adele/FKA twigs collaborator Paul Epworth and Matt Hales of Aqualung.

Wasn't it so wonderful
Well, I wouldn't say this is tour de force, because its too smooth, too soothing, and too beautiful a masterpiece.Blood, by Lianne La Havas is the best album I've heard in several years.Recently amazing musicians have come to the fore and produced great works: Adele, Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, and the like. They end up putting the full force of their talent and effort into their works and produce a string of hit songs. This doesn't compare to Lianne La Havas' Blood.I've listened to albums by each of the aforementioned artists and have been entranced, but was turned off by a few songs.I listened to Blood and haven't been able to stop."Wonderful" is my favorite track, I encourage a listen.

Lianne Where Have You Been? Or Better Yet Where Have I Been??!
I have been listening to this cd none stop since I ordered it. Its an lp that is so smooth that I do not skip over any songs because they blend so well together in their indie rock/r&b neo soul flavor. I love Lianne's voice and use of guitar. She sends me to a hallow place every time. She is so new and fresh, her perspective so poetic and fluid without being loquacious. My favorite song right now is - Midnight but that is slowly turning into Ghosts. Please invite Lianne into your music library. You wont regret it!!

Terrific Sophmore Effort!
Lianne has taken her musict o a new level on this CD. If you liked her first, you will still find the same confessional style and acousticg guitar work, but the production is slicker and the selections more varied. You can hear Prince's influence here, but it never overshadows her unique voice. I definitely recommend this!

Originally i found Lianne La Havas on the tiny desk concert series on NPR and fell in love with the sound
This album has been in heavy rotation since i received it. Originally i found Lianne La Havas on the tiny desk concert series on NPR and fell in love with the sound. She has a soft and sincere sound that for some reason has a strong presence. I was really suprised for such a young artist to have a seriously old soulful sound. These nostalgic sounds should suit any well rounded music lovers interest if it doesnt become an instant classic of the collection.TLDR; New sounds, old soulful spirit.

Great artist
Bought both Blood and Is Your Love Big Enough? albums from Lianne La Havas after seeing her on the Tiny Desk Concerts on YouTube. She makes it seem effortless, like beautiful music just pours out of her. Her voice just makes you want to sit back and dream about a better life. I can't choose a clear favorite between the albums because they both sound great, but Blood probably comes out on top.

Lianne has a beautiful soul, in and out
Lianne has a beautiful soul, in and out. I have loved her other albums that were more acoustic. In this album you get to hear another side of her. She definitely showcases her voice and it's beautiful. I love the song Grow. She has definitely done that. This is grown music for loversof music in every way. Can't wait to be able to go to a show and see her in it.

WHY IS THIS NOT ON MY RADIO!
This is the most amazing cd I have purchased in a long time! I wish they would play her songs on the radio. This woman is an amazing talent and has given me hope for future artist and things to come. She has a very melodic smooth sound. I especially like Tokyo and Good Goodbye. Keep making music.

The New Welcomed British Invasion
Lianne La Havas is a young, beautiful and talented lady from England with a smoky alto voice. She brings a sound that is quite her own. No carbon copy here. Her material speaks to the heart, as if Ms. La Havas has been here before. This album is what all ears need after trying to avoid the noise that is played over popular radio.
