Good Product but Follow The Text
THe kit is pretty good from a practical sense, but the interactive text is worth the 70 bucks. The one thing I will say is regardless of what you have learned so far go step by step according to the text. What I have found the most helpful is practicing taping and securing catheters. I am in the vet field so getting the catheter well secured pretty quickly is important. Also you will want to scrounge a few old IV bags so you can make a couple of bags of fake blood and a bag of fake colored medicated IV solution. I use red and yellow food coloring to destinguish the solutions. I also set up a closed collection system with an extra old IV bag. That way I can catch the solution directly into an IV bag and just switch bags when I reset. I also made an IV pole out of 20" of PVC pipe secured to a sheet of lexan. My only real complaint is the kit needs spare parts. After a few uses the hose that is used for veins starts to leak a little bit. I went down to a pet shop and bought two sizes of silicone rubber hose and just replace as needed. The fish guys use the silicone hose as an air hose for aquariums. Make sure you get silicone.

The best venipuncture kit I have gotten while learning phlebotomy
This product is not like most kits that leave certain materials out or oversell the quality of their product purely so you’ll buy it onl to later realize that it really wasn’t worth the money. This product was completely worth the money and for one of the cheaper venipuncture kits had quality of something with twice the market value, I personally had gotten it to practice my phlebotomy skills (no sort of higher skills such as suturing or putting in an IV) and yet had I wanted to it cake with guides and materials on how to do both that I could easily follow. If I ever had anyone ask me the best practice kit to get for venipuncture this would always be go to 100% of the time.

easier to extract blood from real people than this...
Its easier getting blood in real people than this... the only thing you know you are in is after you feel you are out of the hard surface then you are inside the tube (fake vein) and in order to get the blood flowing on your vacutainer is to have two bottles one with fake blood one empty so you can keeo the line open and keep blood flowing or else after one extraction your next tube will get air only... if you keep the line open and get the fake blood flowing to the next bottle you can vontinue extracting blood. I was a nurse in another country but was 10 years ago... I didnt want to work as a nurse anymore but still want to do on calls for blood extraction or IV insertions in home settings also want sime volunteer jobs probably... I know the feel of inserting IV in a real vein... its nothing like this stimulator... but its good though for those who wants to get their self familiar. The needles in this set is missing a lot. I was looking for guage 22 which is commonly used and there is none.

Needs to include a paperback book
I really like the idea of putting practical instruments with training materials, it's very helpful for me to learn the major aspects and procedures. I used to be training to be a nurse long time ago and this kit is wonderful for refreshing my knowledge and also great for people who is doing it for the first time. The only downside of the kit is there is no paper book to have it as a reference. I'm thinking of printing from the disk because to have major veins and arteries diagrams on the paper is huge helping block to memorize it.

Pretty much a one time use.
Decent variety of items to get you familiar with phleb/veni techniques. The "forearm trainer " is only a swimming pool noodle cut in half and wrapped latex with 2 hard rubber tubes that act as the "veins". This makes difficult to use, especially after the first puncture. Expect leakage and a mess. The package indicates that there is a DVD included to help teach/guide you along but there is not. Unfortunately I had to search for it online.Over all this package is a good gift/starter item before you enroll in a program or courses, but in reality the price is just too high while the quality is too low.

The fake arm in this kit is so badly designed that I can't recommend the kit.
Overall a good kit I wish it came with more IV starters (mine came with 2) but the very big issue here is the ARM. It comes with a plastic fake arm to practice on and that was a main reason I bought this kit. I needed that. However, it doesnt work at all. The tubes are both open on both ends (the ones that represent veins in the arm) and I could not figure out a way to keep them plugged up and the one it came with didnt work. The fake veins also dont flow at all sometimes (I only ever used tap water) -- they just weren't good to learn with at all. Things arent clearly marked either which is bothersome trying to learn what is what as a newbie. The instructions are good but the arm was the most important part and that really really disappointed me. A fellow seasoned nurse suggested his old practice which is just as good using a few IV lines rolled up in towels to represent an arm. You could even wrap it in plastic wrap to get something more realistic. I just think the arm in this kit sucks and thats a pretty big deal.

Great product!
This kit is amazing! We purchased it for our 14 year old daughter for Christmas because she is interested in going into the medical field. It was a hit! Great material to learn with. She loves it. We werent sure what to expect as her father is a flight paramedic and I am an RN, but we were both well pleased!
