I was hesitant to try these, but from the urging of reliable family and friends I finally ordered them. The first load came out pretty good, but then the real test was our mildew/moldy towels that we could not get that smell out for anything. I washed them once with these nuts in hot water and the smell was gone. To top it off, crusty towels were now soft and fluffy again like new!! I am happy a product is green and even better than anything is not good for the environment. We will also save $$ in detergent and fabric softener. I can't wait to try all the other recommendations (shampoo, pesticide, cleaner...).

Be warned, these have an odor that the Internet describes as vinegar-like. The good news is that it doesn't appear to leave the smell on clothes once they've dried from washing.

I only use natural products and for the past several months, I have been making my own detergent. I learned about soap nuts and thought I would give them a try. I love the concept of soap nuts but not this particular brand. I realize that there are 6 positive reviews for this size package, but if you read the reviews for this seller's one bag item, you will see many negative comments. I find that our clothes have lingering odors and some stains with these soap nuts and I have followed the instructions to a T. I have used them for a few months and I still have an unopened bag that I am stuck with and will most likely throw away, as I am outside of the return window. These soap nuts are supposed to be placed in a small canvas bag which unfortunately rips or comes open easily, so the nuts end up all throughout the load of laundry, which is a hassle, as one has to take the time to hunt and find them! Additionally, after doing research on soap nuts, I learned that they should be sticky to be effective and these are very dry. I bought a small batch of soap nuts from a local tea shop in my area, which were great, but pricey, which is why I purchased these from Amazon. I plan on trying another brand offered on Amazon to see if I am more successful.

These have been great. Clothes are coming out clean without any smell on them. I bought them to use on our cloth diapers because my daughter is so sensitive to detergents and since using them she has not had any more diaper rash or redness on her bum. After using them on the diapers I started uing them on the laundry for the entire family and they are able to clean not just the baby clothes and diapers but my teenage sons exercise clothes also. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a safe and mild detergent that has great cleaning power. As an added note: it is recommended that you wash your clothes on warm or hot and I have not tried using this in cold water.

my wife has skin allergies and the popular detergents are harsh to her sensitive skin. I just want clean clothes that smell good, and these little things do just that... naturally!

There is a distinct smell to these soap nuts. It's kind of a sweet and natural smell, but still, it's a scent, and if you don't like your clothing having a scent, you might not like this. Also, after washing with these, there were what looked like grease stains all over my clothes and a yellow spot on one shirt. I re-washed with regular laundry detergent and the stains came out, but I was very scared for a moment that most of my favorite clothes were ruined.

The soap nuts work very well. I do not see a need for the plastic packaging inside of the cloth bag. Its just creating unnecessary waste. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes I have to wash a load more than once for it to seem completely clean before drying. I'm not sure if this is because of the amount of clothes, how dirty they are, my specific washing,machine, etc. but just wanted to make others aware. Besides that, these are much cheaper anc more ecofriendly than buying the chemicals in the plastic containwrs you would find at any regular grocery store.

We have been using soap nuts for about five years. I love how easy they are on our clothing and our skin. There is no overbearing chemical laundry detergent smell. The 1 kilo bag lasts our family of six a year. Green Virgin Products offers the best price I have found and a good consistent quality.

Cleans the clothes great, and has no allergens.. Love these.
