My 4yo nephews loves this book!
My 4yo nephew is fascinated with tornadoes. He talks about them constantly and even wanted to be one for Halloween (but changed his mind last minute, as kids do). I got him this book for Christmas and he has had me read it to him countless times. The illustrations are bold and engaging but the book also teaches facts about tornadoes so we've both been able to learn new things.

Great illustrations!
Bought this for my nephew's 6th birthday, as he is very interested by natural disasters and extreme weather. The illustrations are phenomenal. The writing is very educational and specific. Since I had such a hard time finding books age appropriate for a 6 year old, I was very happy with how this checked off all of the boxes!

Cute/educational book
I bought it to share with my 3 year old grandson. A bit over his head. Buuuut, for middle school informational book. Nailed it. Great illustrations and language you can understand.

Cute book
Cute book but I bought It for my 4 year old Grandson. He loves the weather, tornadoes, hurricanes.. I think he’s a little too young for this book though.

Teaches the Tornado scale
This book for the most part teaches the tornado scale. It shows before and after images for each tornado and explains how fast the winds were. Some kids might find this scary especially if they live in an area like tornado alley. Now, I am over in California and a tornado did hit our house - the house we are living in. It only ripped off part of the roof and took out some trees, but it sounded terrifying. So we probably experienced an EF-0 which is not really that bad according to this book's scaling.Overall, I think kids should understand tornadoes - how they form, what the scale system is, and what to do if there is a tornado. This book covered all of that, but it did not gloss anything over so sensitive kids might have issues. In our family we tend to not gloss things over because we want kids to know the seriousness of things... but at least I can reassure our kids we only face EF-0, other families deal with tornado drills and alarms.... and the possibility of the big one happening.

Great for project
This is an excellent example of nonfiction picture book writing. Used this in my 5th grade science class and an example of expectations for a research project.

Perfect for a tornado obsessed 4 year old!
I have a tornado obsessed 4 year old. He absolutely loves this book. We read it daily. He really enjoys the pictures of the damage and destruction. The book is pretty informative. Which is great! My little guy now teaches everyone he meats about the formation of tornadoes and how they are classified. This is a great book! It was exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes to learn about weather/natural disasters.
