Hmm not as great as you think. 🤔
I do loads of soldering and thought this would be great for me. I must admit that the magnifying glass is pretty good and helps a lot. But when I was pulling the light towards me, the under light cover that hides the light just broke into pieces. When looking at the light it is cheaply made. The plastic that hides the light is nothing at all. Very week plastic. That just broke very easy. It’s a shame as it is very good for soldering. Disappointed and haven’t had the light that long!

Good magnification and sturdy base
Use the lamp for paint ing 28mm model figures. Needed magnification to achieve detail and good light source. The lamp is excellent for this. The support frame on springs working well and is not at all flimsy. Worth the extra cost compared to cheap alterantives.

Yeah -- not bad. Not bad at all.
There's little to complain about at this price -- but that won't stop my trying.Broadly, it works fine, and it's good value for money. It's light in weight, and feels a little flimsy compared to commercial-grade equipment; but at this price, that's to be expected. In a "real" anglepoise design, the weight of the head is balanced by the springs, and the whole thing is self-supporting. In this unit, though, you need to tighten up the wing-nuts to provide friction to keep it in place. Still, it is possible to adjust its position, and keep it stable, when you'd tightened the nuts to just the right point. The desk clamp works well, and feels sturdy. There are selectable light levels colours but (see? I'm going to complain, after all) they aren't remembered when the unit is switched off at the power supply. I don't like leaving equipment switched on, and I'd prefer it if there were a proper memory for settings.I'd also prefer it if the adjustments were at the head end, rather than the tail end. When I want to adjust the light, I've usually got my face over the lens. I have to lean away to find the adjustment controls, which is a nuisance. The lens is clear, and has little distortion.Despite the minor complaints, I'm pleased with this purchase.

OMG - the best Amazon purchase since 1996
When I was at University, in Oxford, back in 1996 I purchased my first book online via Amazon as that is all it sold, not 25 years later I decide to write my first review on a product that has put a smile on my face and exceeded all my expectations. This is by far the best purchase I have ever made, ignore all the negative comments from other reviews, this thing is sturdy, bright and well built. It was an impulse purchase and I did not carry out any due diligence but what I have received has changed my life, fantastic, neat, slim, usable, and elegant. I am one happy Amazonian...

Awesome Cheap Desk Magnifying Light
Awesome little desk mountable lamp.LED lights around the underside side of the magnifying glass are bright. Lights can be yellow, normal or a bright white. Can be powered through USB or the included USB mains plug. The is enough movement in the arm to located the lamp arm to easily move it around your work station. For the price - excellent item.

Better than I expected.
I read reports of how fragile the lamp surround was and took a chance, but in normal use it's fine. Still good to know that it could potentially be a weak point. It's a pity the controls are on a cable which invariably hangs down below the edge of the table - this makes it awkward if you have attached the lamp the the back of your desk. Much better to place the controls on the lamp head. The controls are a bit silly really, as I just use the on/off button - I never touch the different light levels or the light warmth controls. So could be better, but used as a simple lamp it's pretty bloody good :)

Does the job, but the controls are poorly positioned.
Illumination is OK and the three colour temperatures and the dimmer work fine - but the power unit/control unit should have been much much more conveniently sited on the lamp head rather than where they've placed it on the power lead, which will always be dangling behind the far side of your desk as far as possible from your hand. Not the most inspiring piece of design. It also seems a bit overpriced for what it is. Shouldnt be more than £30 IMHO.

A BIT EXPENSIVE BUT GOOD SO WORTH IT
I purchased this for my wife who has taken up Painting by Diamonds - an excellent new (to her) art. The "diamonds" are small and she needed them to be bigger so she could see them easier and place them correctly. We did find cheaper alternatives but this fitted the bill perfectly and now it's seldom turned off! It has various light settings - both brightness and white light or warm light options.
