Nature's Gate

Long story short: not great for daily washes, smells good I think, would not recommend.Two stars may be a bit harsh for this product, but as it stands, I'm unable to use it and someone else may want to know why before they purchase it. I bought this Nature's Gate duo because I'm trying to be more conscious of the products I use on myself, and I wanted to replace the products I used before from brands that participate in animal testing, contain sulfates/ites, and so on.As a shampoo, it works OK. I do need to use a lot, probably twice as much as I would use of a "normal" shampoo, but I have no qualms about that. (It is stated on the bottle to use a "generous" amount.) However, I can't use it every day on my hair (wavy, thick, soft texture) because it is VERY drying. I'm honestly shocked that there are people who can use it and report that their hair is softer or more moisturized. Clearly it works for some, but not for me. I also have hard water and I'm willing to say: that might be the cause of my issue where it isn't an issue for others. Nevertheless, my hair comes out feeling plasticy and straw-like. The conditioner feels like it should be moisturizing, but in my experience it only contributes to the plastic feel of my hair when I use it. I don't have a lot to say about it because it just doesn't make up for what ever the shampoo is doing.I will say that the longer I wait between washes, the better my results are with this product. Waiting 2 or 3 days does not result in plastic hair, but with my job, the wait is just not practical for me. Now that I've used it all, I'll be looking for another brand.

Update: After a full week of using this duo, my hair became straw like but still very oily and seemed to keep getting worse, I had to stop using it. I'm a little sad since i really liked it the first few times I used it.I love the shampoo, its got a great clean, earthy smell to it (much like Aveda scents) and it seems to clean very well. It lathers well even though its sulfate free which was surprising. The conditioner is a similar scent but far stronger and has a heavy perfumey smell to it, not the biggest fan on that point. Im used to my conditioner being a wash-out, faint smell after i get out of the shower, but i could still smell this fresh the next morning. It will take some getting used to. I had to use a fair amount of the conditioner too, my hair kept absorbing it. It did seem to make my new color pop a little bit, which was nice. We'll see if it helps me keep my color in the long run.

I purchased this since it was made of natural ingredients and I think it works pretty well, cleaning out my hair and leaving a great, pleasant fragrance! However there's one small drawback.You definitely have to use the shampoo and conditioner together! If you just use the shampoo but itself but don't use the conditioner, your hair will feel a little bit waxy. Well, at least that's how my hair has been if only using the shampoo. You might get a different experience but that's what happened to my hair.Other than that, I think this product is great! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I like the shampoo and conditioner and how it has worked on my hair....but I can't stand the smell!!! It smells like Aquanet or some product that was really popular in the 80's like LA looks or something.....It's an old smell! No offense to the elderly! I will try another fragrance of this brand if it exists. I want to use it mainly because it's dedication to no sulfates, parabens....etc.

I wished I loved this set as much as the tea tree set, but I don't. I have shoulder length medium thick hair and the shampoo made my hair feel like straw. The conditioner did a great job softening up my hair. The smell reminded me of a cross between medicine and a strong laundry detergent. I love Natures Gate products, but won't buy this again.

I purchased this shampoo and conditioner set after looking into natural hair products. I can't say that I was overwhelmed by how great this product worked. When I use the shampoo it makes my hair feel somewhat dried out though the conditioner seemed to work fairly well. All in all I think I'll stick to what I normally use for now.

I love that this product is natural. My husband uses the shampoo and likes how thick it is. I wish the shampoo got more sudsy than it did. I feel like I have to use a lot. My hair is longer though, so maybe that is why. I may purchase again, or try another.

I like what the company and products stand for (being natural), but this tends to weigh my hair down. I have noticed that I have to wash it about once a week with a regular shampoo to help revive it.
