I bought this and had it shipped to my neice in clarksville, tn.. She had a mechanic install, but he wasn't versed in working on VW's. So didn't know how to program, even though details said to simply swap micro chips inside key. Long story, ended up bringing to local VW stealership, and bought their switch and (Walla) $700 later she's driving again.Moral of this story, Know how to work on Vw's or at least try to learn. And save some money. Theirs a reason rich people wear scoffed up shoes !!!!!!!

Dont' waste your money!!! Wouldn't program to the car.
I installed the new ignition cylinder and tumbler in my 2006 VW Jetta. Everything fit fine and the new system seemed to work well but when I tried to start the car it started and died right away. Keys have to be programed to the car so I took it into VW dealer (the only ones that seem capable of programming) and they charged me $100 to tell me that this key would not program! So, I spent $100 on the parts and $100 on the programming! I ordered new parts but by the time they arrived it was too late to return these parts. Save yourself the time, $$$ and frustration and get higher quality parts.

RFID ISSUES
THE ASSY. CAME WITH 1 NEW KEY, YOU CAN TAKE THE KEY APART AND INSIDE IS A RFID CHIP. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO TRANSFER YOUR EXISTING RFID CHIP TO THE NEW KEY, THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF VW KEYS, ONE HAS THE RFID BUILT INTO THE CIRCUIT BOARD WHICH IS NOT TRANSFERABLE THIS TYPE OF KEY FOB IS THE ONE THAT IS VERY HARD TO DISASSEMBLE THE OTHER TYPE WITH TRANSFERRABLE RFID IS THE ONE THAT SLIDES APART INTO TWO PIECES THEN THE CHIP CAN BE DUG OUT OF IT. WAS ABLE TO TRANSFER OLD LOCK CYLINDER TO NEW HOUSING TO MAKE IT WORK BUT IT IS DIFFICULT TO RELEASE THE LOCK CYLINDER ON BOTH ESPECIALLY IF YOU CANT GET THE KEY TO TURN ON ORIGINAL LOCK CYLINDER.
