Saved my old waffle iron!
I used this to replace a worn, overheating cord on a waffle iron. I was so happy to find this one! I looked EVERYWHERE for power cords, but flat out couldn't find one that would work. Note that in this case, I was looking for a HARD-WIRED, as opposed to DETACHABLE, cord. I never knew it could be so difficult to find a basic appliance cord! However, I was thrilled to stumble across this one. It is much longer than the original cord (meaning I don't have to be right next to the outlet anymore), doesn't get warm at all, and is thicker. While the thickness posed a slight issue at first (the original cord was thinner, and this one initially made it impossible to get the cover back on), I simply chipped away (and smoothed) some of the plastic of the waffle maker housing, and it fits perfectly and is secure. It doesn't wiggle at all and is not strained. The price was right, too. Only $10 compared to having to replace the whole waffle iron!Lastly, although the plug is NOT polarized on this one, this isn't really an issue for many small appliances like waffle irons, EXCEPT for toasters. Otherwise, it should be fine in most cases.

TYPE HPN CORD IS REQUIRED FOR HEATERS, IRONS, TOASTERS, AND COOKERS
Just as described: a 15 amp cord with type HPN insulation. Many people risk a fire by using a standard extension cord with a heating appliance. You electrician will tell you that's a BIG MISTAKE! The high current draw can cause the vinyl insulation to melt and start an electrical that is difficult to put out. TYPE HPN is made with a neoprene insulation that has a much higher melting point.

It is a "real" HPN replacement cord
I needed a flexible power cord, like the rubber-insulated cord used in older heater appliances. This is it. While is is not as soft and flexible as the older HPN cords, it is usable. More flexible than standard vinyl-covered power cords. I recommend it for anybody looking for HPN (rubber-insulated power cord).

Works with my Vintage 70's Teac Reel-to-Reel after minor shaving
I had read that this cord would work with my vintage Reel-to-Reel after shaving down the plastic a bit, and it worked! I had previously bought a different cord that did NOT fit. But this one worked after minor trimming with some diagonal cutters. You could whittle it down with a box cutter if you don't have diagonal cutters. I'm guessing it works with many vintage appliances from the 70's and earlier.

It gets the job done, but get the 8 foot cord.
This was purchased for my iron. It was easy to swap out. The cord is not the same quality as the original - insulation is not as thick or as rated as high, but I think that's more of an overkill by the company.... I have done my ironing regularly, as usual, and I have had no problems. (My big concern was the cord getting hot, for it not being rated at 115 like the original... No need to worry.) The only problem for me... I wish it was longer. I would recommend for you to purchase an 8 foot cord. 6 can get the job done for ironing, but I think the 8 would be the better choice, now. ;-)
