Just Like Cheddar Shreds, 8 OZ

Delicious! I was doubtful because I have disliked the other vegan-dairy-substitute cheese products I've tried before. However, this one is surprisingly delicious! You might want to know that it melts at a slightly high temperature, so that it might take just a little more time. But it melts like a regular cheese. The smell and taste are not quite like cheddar, but pretty similar to, say, a cheese spread. Very tasty! Wonderful texture. Great in all the usual recipes. Also, the cost is very comparable to other cheese shreds. Love it!

I have heard of this stuff for a while in vegan magazines. I've always been curious of it. I'm a food nerd and always love trying new things to come out. I've tried god knows how many brands and flavors now so when Whole Foods started to final stock it I had to add it to the cart. I'm glad I did, this is the best vegan cheese I have tried in a long long time. There is nothing I don't put it on or cook with it. It tastes great, it melts wonderfully and the texture is just like shredded cheese. Many vegan cheeses taste good when in things or mixed with other ingredients but the real and true test I put things to is how it tastes alone or if I could see myself wanting to eat it straight from the package and this is the first vegan shredded cheese to pass the test. I could eat handfuls of it all day long, and I have lol. And so I figured I'd do that same test but on other big cheese eating non-vegans and it passed that test as well. My 4yr old nephew couldn't stop eating it as I was cooking him diner and he would be quick complain to me if he didn't like it. I have some to my other family members who aren't always fans of vegan cheese and they loved it too. Now if only more grocery store stocked it in stead of Daiya.

Tastes just like cheddar cheese but it doesn't melt

Plant based, vegan “cheese” is not an easy task and it’s nearly impossible to see it as a lateral substitute for dairy cheese. That’s not an equal comparison. Plant based “cheese” doesn’t melt the same, doesn’t have anything close to the texture or satisfaction of the effort it takes to cut a slice of cheese off a 5lb chub of cheese or trying to clean a grater after grating a few pounds of cheese. No plant based anything can compete. But what it can do, is be a new way of looking at cheese. I use it the same as cheese but I expect different things. If you’re a fan of the crusty corners of a casserole as I am you’ll love these. The battles when I was young to be the first in the kitchen when we heard the oven door open were legendary. It’s like having a plateful of that crispy cheese. I put it on hot dogs and tots and it did something cheese could never do, Voilife created a crispy somewhat gooey when I added ketchup, punch of flavor on top of ordinary junk food. In beans it doesn’t crisp up it ads a creamy element. It’s expensive. But it does great things. I love the stuff.

Violife Cheddar Shreds are hands down one of the best vegan cheese options out there. They melt beautifully and have a delicious, cheesy flavor that works great in meals like scrambled tofu and quesadillas. The only downside is the price - it’s on the expensive side, though it does go on sale fairly often. If you’re looking for something to snack on straight from the package, their slices are a better option. Overall, a solid choice for vegan cheese lovers.

My family has been purchasing this brand for more than a year. The taste is great and a lot like real cheese but we have found that this brand molds quickly and my family always has to use it within 2-3 days of opening.
