Best by 12/28/14 Panforte is a traditional Italian dessert containing fruits and nuts, and resembling fruitcake. It may date back to 13th century Siena, in Italy's Tuscany region. Ingredients: Candied orange and citron peel, candied melon 39% (orange and citron peel, melon rind, glucose syrup, sugar, acidity regulator: citric acid), wheat flour, sugar, almonds (15%), glucose – fructose syrup, starch wafer (potato starch, water, vegetable oil), maize starch , mixed spices. Contains sulfites and nuts.

I lived in Italy for a few years and remember certain "goodies" with which I fell in love but could rarely or never find here in the USA...Panforte being one of them. I am really glad I can get it from Amazon...I love fruitcake and other "dense" dessert foods of that kind. Panforte (in all its forms) is the Italian version of that. As usual, the Italians, being so in love with good food, have done a remarkable job in creating (long ago) this exquisite dessert bread/cake/confection...I don't know really what to call it. "Panforte" is an Italian word which would roughly translate into English as "strong bread." Hmmm, so whatever it is, I know one thing: I LOVE IT, and will always order it around the holidays...or whenever I get that "hankering" for "deelish." LOLOL
