Farpoint Bahtinov Masks for Camera Lenses (62MM)

Makes focusing more precise!
I hate spending a night taking pictures thinking you're in focus only to load up the pics on the computer afterwards and zoom in to see you have little donuts. This mask will help alleviate the problem. It is made of good quality plastic. I keep a UV filter on my lens at all times as a layer of protection. So, as others have stated, I had to file the three tabs down a bit to be able to place and remove the mask easier. No problem. When focusing, I have to use the digital zoom in the live view on my Canon 90d in order to see the spikes. But at 5x or 10x they are easy to see and align. Best way to assure pinpoint stars!

Minor adjustment necessary to make it fit
Preemptively giving this 5 stars, though not yet tested (have tested larger ones on telescope, so I know they work).Item initially wouldn’t attach to my 67mm UV filter. The stubs that stick out of the side meant it was a fraction too large.Using my dremel, I ground the edges of the stubs down a fraction to make them more rounded and it snapped in nicely. The instruction leaflet appears well written and gives basic instructions on use.Looking forward to some nicely focused images.

Works as it should
This Bahtinov mask works exactly as it should. You install it over the lens, into an empty UV filter, and focus on a bright star such that the central refracted spike is aligned between the two other spikes crossing in either angle (as pictured). This ensures a very reliable focus for stars/infinity.Don't waste money on an expensive UV filter as you would be removing this filter before imaging. The AmazonBasics UV filter is cheap and this part fits into it (in the non-threaded side) well enough. I had to reverse the plastic insert in the tray that came with it for the filter to sit comfortably inside (the solution works). Be sure to order this from Farpoint directly if they are a seller to ensure you don't receive a similar third-party product.I deducted one star for the current price of $20. It is a cheap, basic plastic piece which is not molded to a particularly admirable standard (doesn't need to be). When I placed my order it was $15.

Works and fits well
This works very well when used with the Cokin P filter holder. It fits perfectly.

Not exact size
Somewhat bigger than advertised. Will not fit into a filter mounting without cutting off a bit.

Having the right mask makes finding focus so much easier.
This Farpoint mask made finding focus possible. I have been struggling with my 105 mm lens to find focus. This mask mask it so much easier, and did it quicklyI purchased a UV filter to mount this in, and only screwed it on about 1 turn so I could remove it easily after finding focus. Here is an image of Orion's Belt, 150 images @ 2 seconds, stacked.Best I've ever made, due to the mask.

Awesome focus mask. I didn’t understand that I’d be sacrificing a UV filter to the cause but it’s worth it. This plastic piece fits into any UV filter (sold separately but cheap) and that becomes the whole unit.

I do not know the one I received an exception, but...
At least the one I received did not fit my threaded filter as it was slightly too wide for 52mm filter. Pushed in but soon after it pops out and fall. Simply refused to stay in the filter. It will very clear I will lose it soon or later. I can not provide how useful for focusing as I returned it before using it. As it failed before use, I only give a single star.

It fits!
I placed mine directly on the 58mm lens and it fit perfectly, no threading, just snapped in. I suggest getting a cheap UV filter and attach it to the filter permanently for easy removal.

Cheap & doesn't fit!!
Doesn't fit my 77mm BW UV filter... also, this is very expensive for a small cheap piece of plastic like this!!
