Good not great
Sofia Coppola can be a polarizing filmmaker for some but overall Iβve been a fan of quite a few of her films. Here felt like one the weaker movies in her filmography. Iβm actually a fan of the subject matter. Movie is competently made and enjoyed the matter of factness they presented what was going on.The performances by lot of the actors really took me out of it tho. The main actress Katie Chang was extremely wooden. Iβm a big fan of Emma Watson as well even in other films she plays an American but her SoCal accent wasnβt it.Iβm from the east coast but had some friends and family living from the area (and funnily enough probably around the same age as lot of the actors in this time period) so maybe my familiarity there influenced my opinion.

A Powerful Period Piece
I do not regret watching a single minute of this masterpiece. From the Juicy sweatsuits, the single teacup dog, to Emma Watson's almost "scene" (a subsection of the late 2000's emo culture) haircut, I was blown away by the quality of this thought provoking film. This dark and cerebral commentary on material obsession still echos familiar socioeconomic insights of this new decade. In the current state of our collective consciousness, I feel that this film should be mandatory viewing for all schools and girl scout troops in order to teach upcoming young minds about what is really important in life- the law of attraction. If Emma Watson had listened to her mother, she could have surrounded herself with quality and fun loving friends who would favor wholesome activities like drinking Milkshakes, Golfing, and of course, Go Fish. The repercussions of showing this film to the youthful generation are endless. If more parents encouraged this viewing and deep message of this film, I know that the lines at my local roller skating rink would be packed with eager and noble tweens- what to speak of the lines at the local library! Let's get our kids reading again! Come on! Who's with me? I'd like to see the Goosebumps section wiped out at on a weekly basis! When's the last time YOUR kid picked up a book? Put down the Minecraft and pick up the MINDcraft!Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox- thanks for indulging this modern book worm. But as for this reader rabbit's last comments, I'll leave you with this: What cost less? The new shiny cellular device in your pocket or a trusty, timeless, and FREE library card? Think about it. How much money did you spend on that phone? Have you ever wanted to travel? Well pick up a book! You can go anywhere you want! Sometimes, what I tell people is that it's like TV for your BRAIN. But what is better about reading a good book is that you can travel internally to any place you've ever dreamed of - India, Europe, Connecticut, Mars, or even in the arms of a fictional character (like the infamous Christian Gray - a favorite among many book worms). To finish off, I hope this thought provoking film encourages you to become attracted to what is REALLY important- Books! Tune out of the world of designer clothes and big "bling", and tune to infinite adventures between the pages of an addicting (not like the addiction in this movie!...haha) plot lines of a good book!Agent Book Worm OUT!

Truth is definitely stranger than fiction
What makes this movie so fascinating is that it's true. Five spoiled LA kids actually committed burglaries on the homes of rich and famous celebrities stealing designer clothing, jewelry, cash and drugs. These weren't kids who were from poor families or who were stealing to fund a drug habit. They were all from upper middle class households and the burglaries were more of a way to connect with the celebrities who were their idols. With the money and items they stole, they were given access to a whole lifestyle, one that they envied and practically worshipped through the constant feed of social media and celebrity websites. The group became celebrities themselves in their own social circles because they bragged about their accomplishments and showed off pictures of each other inside the star's private homes. Eventually, someone turns the kids in and they are all arrested. None, however, show real remorse for their actions. A few of the girls ended up getting a reality television show for a while solely as a result of their popularity and being part of the burglar bunch. This movie completely brings home the ridiculous nature of our country's obsession with celebrities and how that obsession affects young people. The film has its funny moments as well as moments that are really sad. The acting is all spot on. Emma Watson is dead on as one of the ring leaders and Leslie Mann as the cluelessly pathetic mother of three of the girls involved is hilarious but still sympathetic. Even the group members who ended up spending some minimal time in jail seem to have brushed it all off and continued their lives without ever realizing what has actually happened. The feeling of entitlement that they all have is still driving them and they fully capitalize on their notoriety without ever stopping to realize that they've been convicted of a crime, a bad thing. Are we becoming a world obsessed with fame and celebrity? The Bling Ring makes a strong case that we are, and with websites like TMZ and radar online providing that constant drip of photos and info into our veins, it's actually pretty easy to agree. Watch the Bling Ring. If nothing else, it will make you laugh but it might also make you think .

"..BRILLIANT, GREAT FUN.."
I am in no way a fan of Sofia Coppola movies but bling ring stands out as a very fresh and stylish idea for a movie and its pulled off very well, the story is really well done and is mostly based on true events, its well paced and keeps you interested throughout, the cast is amazing, all the girls are fantastic in their roles and very sexy, especially Emma Watson, its great to see her shake harry potter and do more adult stuff, this is a very enjoyable movie and really worth checking out for anyone, there are some good features on the disc covering the details about the true events that the movie was inspired by and a personal interview with Paris Hilton who was one of the main victims, the Blu-ray picture quality is not much better than DVD, one of the best and most interesting film releases of the year though!!!

Let's Rob!
Hats off to Sofia Coppola for making a film about the Hollywood Hills burglaries! I thought what Coppola created was really insightful into the lives of these teenagers and their obsession with celebs. Let's face it, who here wouldn't want to go into Paris Hilton's house and snoop around? I would!! I wouldn't steal anything but would LOVE to hang out and see how she lives. I think what makes the film even better is the cast: Katie Chang, Isreal Broussard and Emma Watson were amazing!!! I thought Emma wouldn't pull off the Valley accent but she done an amazing job and I had to eat my words. The soundtrack is awesome!!!!

she is developing into a good character actress
It's Emma Watson that makes this a watchable film; she is developing into a good character actress. Don't remember the original news story, but from looking it up on the world wide wait, the film seems to make a fair stab at the storyline.
