Moves LOTS of air where needed.
I bought this as a booster to in a home furnace/AC. My home was built 40 years ago, before zoning was common. The blower unit is in the basement on south end of house, farthest bedroom is on 2nd floor north. On top of that, the ductwork in walls and floors takes 5 90 degree turns before reaching the room, so the room was hot in summer, cold in winter. I bought this fan because I knew it would move enough air, and while not designed for very hot air, the construction would handle air that was no more than 90 degrees by the time it reached fan.To install it, I placed it in basement as far from the furnace as possible, removing a piece of rigid duct and securing either end of the fan to existing ductwork with insulated flex duct. The blower is not rigidly mounted but suspended by wires from the joists, to minimize noise transmission. It turn on and off with an air-operated switch https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002EC1O0C/.Does it work? Beautifully. Noise is fairly low, and the unit is powerful enough that unless set on the lowest speed, it will blow the metal register out of the hole in the floor.

Just buy it!
I read some of the reviews here and I just can't understand some of the comments. If you have a grow room or tent big enough to need a six inch fan, just buy it. Is it noisy? Well, it is moving some 400 cfm, so yeah, it sure does make some noise. But if you need a fan this big, then you don't have a stealth grow so it shouldn't matter. What matters is that it's lightweight,so you can easily hang it from a hook in the ceiling, or set it on top of your tent. What matters is that a big inline filter won't choke off the airflow, unlike other fans. What matters is that these fans are an industry standard that will give you years of trouble free service. It does not come with duct clamps, so be sure to order a pair of those and you'll be good to go!

Annoying hum
The speed controller makes a considerable electrical hum. The fan itself is powerful and quiet. However, the speed controller is cheap like all other fans, which is usually responsible for any non air movement noise with any AC fan. A quality variable voltage regulator will quiet. smooth, and extend the life of this or any AC motor. DC motors are typically quieter, but less powerful and are unlikely to last as long as a continuous use rated brushless AC motor. So, if you really want a powerful, long lasting fan that only whooshes and doesn't hum, be prepared to spend another $50 - $100 on a quality motor controller. If you DO plan on an external controller, it changes the equation and increases options.

Noisy unit. Unable to get replacement. Questionable validity of advertised warranty
Ordered two. Did not use both right away. Discovered second unit was very loud when we installed it a few months after ordering. My child could not sleep with the noise it made bellow his room in the basement. Tried to get a warranty replacement but was told by manufacturer that the warranty is not valid if sold through Amazon or Amazon re-sellers. Buyer beware

High quality fan that maintains its cfm rating against higher pressures than similar boosters.
Second one of these I owned I may just be addicted to the high cfm rating number. However these fans blow way harder than equivalently rated 6" metal style boosters. I'm not sure why that is there must be must less leak around the blades or something or they maintain strength against much greater pressure. I have a 420cfm rated metal booster bring fresh unrestricted air into a large tent, and this Can Fan Pro is running exhaust through a large filter, 3 chill tubes and much longer piping and it still creates a lot of vacuum inside the tent, so it is either way stronger than it's rated 420 CFM, or cheapy metal boosters are rating based on low pressure situations or something like that and don't actually perform well in use. I'll always use these Can Fan Pro fans for exhaust (the important part)

Laser Exhaust Booster
I bought this to use as a booster fan in an exhaust system for a laser engraver. I have a 1600 cfm exhaust fan but due to the long run it wasn't doing a good job of exhausting the laser. I measured the airflow before and after installing the fan. This fan more than doubled the airflow. It was very easy to install. I liked the mounting bracket. I attached it to the wall with the included hardware. I was also very pleased with the low noise level. There is no vibration and it was a lot quieter than I expected for a fan with this output.

This fan sucks!!!
This fan moves a ton of air at a very low wattage. It fits perfectly in my Phat filter and the products look like they were designed for each other with the professional black and yellow color scheme. I run this combo along with a Winix HEPA in my reptile room to circulate air and keep it smelling clean while being energy efficient. The dial is nifty, although speed 1 is all I need for my application. Speed 3 is pretty intense, yet relatively quiet still. If you want to be pro, you've got to be willing to spend a few extra bucks!

Much better than competition ---- Still going like new
So powerful, and so much better than the Chinese model it replaced. I can see this lasting for many many years.Update: After 5+ months of continuous use, I'd still give it a STRONG 5 star rating. I can't say enough good about it. Incredibly powerful and very well constructed. If anything changes i will update, but so far I'd you can not go wrong with this purchase.
