Simple and effective
She really does explain exactly what's going on with your back after helping you figure out what it is. That's more than most doctors bother to do and that alone helps you feel more in control and better about your situation. Let's face it, medicine isn't going to help what most of us suffer from, but these exercises help me and I've read lots of books by back experts and done lots of other exercises and seen every sort of physician and therapist out there to no benefit (except massage which is an effective adjunct.) I only have to do about 15 minutes a day to keep going with minimal discomfort from facet joint arthropathy, spurs etc. If I skip them I feel it worsening. But if this doesn't work for you, it's a small investment, keep trying other approaches. Someone somewhere has figured out something that will help your individual case.

great book for those with back problems!
great book for those with back problems! very simple exercises to do that will bring you relief.very well written in easy to understand language that explains why your back is doing what its doing and why the exercises will rebuild and strengthen your core.I have been to physical therapy over and over through the years and all the things they have you do are not needed at all with following this book.In therapy they had me using this machine, that machine, use a ball, use a stretch band, use a towel and pull her and pull there, use another machine etc etc etc. With this book all the exercises you need to do is just with your own body and nothing else. Just laying on the floor and doing as she has described 4 simple exercises that are not difficult at all to do but will repair your core and spine..

excellent book
Excellent book. The details about various back conditions are easy to understand, well-illustrated with figures, and very helpful. I would recommend this to anyone who is having back issues. It is difficult to find this kind of information when you are a lay person, and my MD told me virtually nothing about my condition, so I really appreciated the medical information provided in this book. I have also done many of the recommended exercises and found them to be good ones, and in fact better and more effective than what my (ex) physical therapist had recommended. This is a good book to read, as is "Backsense," which has a very different perspective on this issue. I'd recommend both for a good overview of some possible ways out of back pain.

A "must" for anyone with a back problem
Back Sufferers' Bible by Sarah Key is essential reading for anyone with a back problem. And if it is a chronic problem then, as the title would indicate, it should kept readily at hand as a source of advice, comfort and ideas on how to improve one's life. Key describes in easily understood language the human back and what can go wrong with it. Moreover, she gives practical solutions so that the sufferer knows when it is appropriate to rest, exercise and take medication. As someone who has a troublesome back from time to time, I've found the "Back Bible" extremely useful and the exercises helpful.

This is a good book for teaching the basic mechanics of the back and providing preventive measures for avoiding serious back trouble. Not the right book for people who may have already herniated a disc.

The author has revealed true means for relieving back pain and restoring health to a damaged back. I have a sequestered disk in L4-L5 and know what pain is. The exercises have been very effective in restoring mobility to my back and allowing me greater freedom of movement. I wish I had read this book several years ago. It would have helped me avoid the mistakes which led to my latest trauma. I am grateful to the author for helping me get back, pun intended, my life.

Others I have recommended have also benefited
Sarah's books and exercises have always helped me. I suffer with lower back Stenosis (narrowing) and sciatica. I purchased the Kindle book so that I could have it with me on my iPad. Others I have recommended have also benefited.

Best investment you'll ever make
I am a long time back pain sufferer and this book did more than any other single medical intervention. So for the price - that's not a bad return on investment! This book gave me hope...and in the depths of despair because your back pain is destroying your life and the medical experts don't seem to care anymore, how priceless is that? Why is this book so good?1. Explains in detail, and in an easy-to understand-way, the various phases (acute, chronic) of the main types of back pain. Chances are you will recognise your pattern of symptoms.2. Recommends exercises to manage an remedy the pain. Again, simple and clearly explained.3. Written in a sensible, empathic style. This lady knows that back pain can ruin your life and does not make light of that, nor the fact that you will have setbacks along the - possibly very long - road to recovery. Some other books have been almost condescending in their style (no names..., or over empathic.Any reason not to buy this book? Not really.Anything that could be better or improved? The anatomical diagrams are difficult to interpret(line drawings in black and white). I think understanding what's going on can be useful - but the level of explanation in this book seemed to be a bit much perhaps. But overall, you can't go wrong. If you're medical orientated and really depressed about your back, you might want to try a book by Stu McGill, on lower back pain (am just due to write a review for this and will icnlude the link and title when I'm done). My back is now manageable whereas before I was ready to swing. This book was the first step on that road.I would just buy it now.Good luck!
