Versatile product for eggs.
I have not been a fan of soft-boiled eggs, but wanted to try them to see if I like them now, because my tastes have changed as I get older. I bought this cracker to remove the shell so I can eat one out of the shell with a tiny spoon. I also bought 4 of the BIA egg cups. I imagine it will take some time to learn how to cook them just like I want them. I want my egg white to be fully cooked but the yolk to be liquid. I will start off boiling an egg for 5 minutes and see how that works. This device is also supposed to work to crack hard-boiled eggs to remove the shell. Or to crack a raw egg to make fried or scrambled eggs.

Works great
I bought this after my grandson decided he wanted to try soft boiled eggs. BTW, America's Test Kitchen has a foolproof way of getting perfect ones every time.First time out we cracked the top off with a knife but that left some pieces of egg shell. After finding out that he actually liked soft boiled eggs I searched Amazon for an inexpensive topper and found this one.It works great! Cuts the top off cleanly and with no shell bits in the egg.It might not be the one for folks who eat soft boiled eggs all the time (then again, it might) but for us occasional users it is quite a bargain.

Egg Shells embedded into your egg
Don't waste your money or time on this one. It is cheaply made and the design was from an idiot. The sharp point attempts to break the shell but actually just pushes on it till it crushes and then the broken pieces enter into the egg and become embedded. The knife tip needed to be something more like a needle point to start the shell break. The knife design won't let you move it fast enough to get an inertia going to help create a breaking point.

works as expected
Works well enough. I just got it and used it only a few times, but it slices the top off a soft boiled egg rather well, no more/less shell fragments than any other method I have tried so far. comfortable to use with the egg sitting in an egg cup, where a different style on from another vendor had complaints about being hard on the fingers, this one is easy. I may try some others and possibly update this review if warranted.

Do you like egg shell in your egg?
My experiences with this egg topper haven't been good because of too many egg-shell chips ending up in the egg. It's also awkward to use if the egg isn't securely seated in the egg cup. My egg cups are low and don't really hold on to the egg. I've been having great results with the Mollibus Soft Boiled Egg Topper, which Amazon also sells. It looks a little gimmicky but it does the job neatly.

Better than others
This egg topper works a lot better than the ones that have little "teeth" all around the circle, which are the most common kind. I've had one of those for some time and it's lost most of the sharpness but it's not an easy tool to sharpen. I haven't used this one long but I can see that won't be a problem so it is already a better design.

Good for soft boiled eggs
This egg topper is a nice gadget if you have soft or hard boiled egg lovers in your home. Since peeling eggs can often be a challenge, this allows "topping" the egg so you can get to the inside more easily. It can be a bit awkward to use. We find it best to place egg in an egg cup and then proceed.

Best idea I have seen for an egg cutter
Best idea I have seen for an egg cutter. Works perfectly every time, no more pesky bits of eggshell to deal with over breakfast. (I saw another review where somebody said there was no way to clean it. Made me laugh. Just run it under running water for a couple of moments, slide the cutter back and forth, voila! clean.)
