Six-Dinner Sid

Funny and Quirky
This is a fun British book about a stray cat. We have a cat like this in our neighborhood, and I thought it had a cute twist at the end.

So happy to see Sid again!
We feed the neighborhood cats. “Rose” eats at our house.”Patch” eats across the street. “Kitty” eats on the corner. “Elinore” lives in the red house, but we didn’t know that until Halloween! She scammed us all summer! She slept in our garage, and walked right into our home whenever she could…So I started calling her “Sid,” after a book my niece had in childhood! My neighbor got a kick out of the book!

I'm sure I know a cat like Sid.
Cute fun story with excellent illustration. (Possibly the author's own work. I couldn't find a credit anywhere.) I am sure most of us with "neighborhood" cats know at least one Sid; probably more. I am going to pass this one on thru a local Little Library. (It is a children's book but everyone can enjoy a children's book.)

Great children's story
I read this book years ago and tried to find it. I was happy to find it on Amazon! This book is especially fun for families that love cats. I bought it for my book collection so when my grandkids we have some really good books to explore. I rated the difficulty level advanced because I was thinking of it more as a read-aloud book rather than something they would read to themselves at this point.

Received my book
When I bought this book it was listed in 'Good Condition' but it should of been acceptable or fair condition. I don't like giving bad reviews but this book arrived pretty beat up. The binding was completely taped together, the cover was all creased and writing on the inside. I will keep it because......why return it, I bought it used. Anyways, I hope next time they will be careful rating the condition of their books. This is a GREAT story and will read it to my grandchildren.

A fun read for cat lovers
I loved this book mostly because we had our own Six Dinner Sid in our neighborhood. We tied a note around his neck to try to track whose house(s) he’d been hanging out in. Now my sister has a Six Dinner Sid who stops by her house for a quick bit of chicken and a nap before moving on to someone else’s house. This copy is going to her.

Book in mint condition but prefer the sequel
I bought this book for my 3 year old to add to his bedtime collection. The book arrived in mint condition. We bought Six Dinner Sid because we already have the sequel; A Highland adventure which is a fantastic book. So we wanted to see what the original was like. To be honest my son does prefer the sequal, it has a much more fun story line and my partner always reads it to my son because he can do a great Scottish accent as Jock the Scottish cat, and my son loves it. Great for the collection but a bit dull. I would definitely recommend the sequel "Six Dinner Sid, a Highland adventure" for any child before you buy this.

Satan references
Very surprised nobody has commented on this before, the occult references were shocking. One of the names given to Sid is "Satan". One of the pictures depicts statues of kids with horns and hooves in a garden. Even the faces of other characters look maleficent. Sid has 6 dinners, 6 owners and 6 houses...666 go figure. Went in the bin, and so did the sequel which didn't actually have any obvious satanic references, but I just didn't feel comfortable having it in the house. Has no one else noticed this before??

SDS is a great book for all ages, but especially for reading a child to bed.
I am 73 and I just loved Six Diner Sid, we have just adopted a S.D.S ourselves and we are not sure Sid goes at night time, or where else she eats, but she is costing us a fortune, but giving us a lot of enjoyment

A loved Xmas present
Bought this for a four-year-old friend. She had two kittens. Mum says it is now her favourite book. Especially as she has two kittens who have eaten themselves to the shape of rugby balls. So we will all be dieting soon, except Sid, of course!

Cats and food...what more could you ask for
I loved this book as a child (and even have my own Sid as a 31 year old!), so recently bought it as a baby shower gift for a friend. It combines our love of cats and food, so ticks all the boxes! Granted, the illustrations aren't modern or bold like most children's books nowadays, but they are beautifully done nonetheless. Lovely story!
