Going through a stressful period and experiencing occasional case of nerves, an unusual problem for me. I choose not to take pharmaceuticals; and only one capsule (instead of the two indicated on the bottle) of this Blue Mountain brand Valerian Root leads me into a peaceful night's sleep. I'm waking up feeling refreshed; and with no side effects. Mental clarity is intact. Works well for me and I'm thankful.

Great product! Does what I need it to do: a natural sleep aide.

Several friends recommended valerian root to me, to combat insomnia which is caused (I think) by menopause. I love using natural botanicals and herbal remedies and try to steer clear of Rx pharmaceuticals. Most Rx drugs have so many side effects that I don't feel it's worth any relief they may offer. I picked this Pure Mountain Botanicals brand because of the many great reviews and the fact that they're organic.I tried using them for three nights and had to give up. For me, they have an opposite effect like drinking coffee before bed. I didn't feel twitchy and restless like I do with Benadryl, but my mind was wide awake for hours. I'm still giving this product 5 stars because of their purity and the way they've helped other people with mood and sleep. They just aren't the right remedy for me. Next I'm going to try 5-HTP, which another friend recommended.

I’ve been buying this for several years. It’s the only organic Valerian I found that has no additives (no rice flour, silica, oils, and other unnecessary stuff). It’s just valerian herb!! All other brands all add stuff to it. It comes in a glass bottle, which is a plus too. I usually take 3 capsules to fall asleep, sometimes more if I’m really wired. The most I ever take is 5 but that’s very rare. And I’ve been taking Valerian for over 6 years and never had to up a dose or anything. So our bodies don’t get used to valerian. (Although it’s nice to take breaks from any herb you take). I try not to take it all the time, sometimes if I can just fall asleep with meditation, that’s great. If not, I take valerian starting at 2 caps, then upping by 1 if I still can’t fall asleep.I just wish there were more capsules in a bottle for this price! Since I take 3 or more per night, the bottle goes really fast. I looked all over Amazon again today, reading the ingredient lists of all other brands and no other Valerian compares (Oregon Wild Harvest is the only one that has no additives, but it didn’t work for me so well. It was very weak, and some people wrote that it’s not even real valerian). So although the price is high, I guess I’ll have to pay for quality over quantity.

I don't use this product every night, but when I do, I know I'm guaranteed a solid night's sleep. It does smell terrible (like stinky feet), but that is the scent of the root. Any brand will smell like this. I keep mine in a plastic bag in my medicine cabinet to control the odor.

Small family business brings very good quality of herbal supplement.Fresh, smells real natural valerian....I take only 1 cap and it help me to sleep better........
