Beverly Lewis at her usual best!
All of Beverly Lewis' books get five stars. She is a wonderful storyteller and author. My husband and I first visited Lancaster County three months after we were married on Valentine's Day in 1981. We fell in love with the area and the Amish way of life and returned as often as we could. It was our dream to eventually live here, and we bought a townhouse in Leola in Aug. 2001, intending it to be our retirement home when the time came. We commuted here every weekend for two years from our home in Mt. Airy, MD. We decided not to wait until retirement, so my husband found a job here, and we moved here permanently in Oct. 2003. We know the area extensively, especially the farmlands, so when Ms. Lewis intertwines descriptions of this area in her books, we know exactly what and where to which she is referring. I highly recommend Beverly Lewis' books. I always eagerly anticipate her new books.

Another wonderful installment in the Home to Hickory Hollow series
h my goodness!!! This book was one of my favorites in the series. My only complaint was that there weren’t quite as many visits with Ella Mae as I like. I just adore that little old lady and I do wish I’d had a few more sips of tea with her this time.I thought this story was a bit more unique than your humdrum Amish tale. It wasn’t a teen pregnancy story or even a very atypical forbidden romance. Nope, this story had twists and turns and situations that were more than meets the eye. There was depth to the story that is lacking in a lot of Amish fiction. So many other books seem to be the same old story over and over. This one was different.About the Story:Tessie Miller is madly in love with Marcus King. Her father has forbidden the union without any explanation whatsoever. So, Tessie and Marcus elope to the English world and then they return to Hickory Hollow. No one knows of their secret union…How long can Marcus and Tessie keep this a secret? Then, the unthinkable happens. Tessie finds herself in serious trouble with the church and with her family. Will she ever find forgiveness or will a simple mistake cost Tessie a lifetime of pain and regret? I have to say, when I read the term, “the unthinkable” in the synopsis? I honestly had very different thoughts about what was going to happen. I was surprised! I mean…I totally wasn’t suspecting what happened to have happened!I know if you all have read the synopsis that you probably think you’ve got it all figured out but just give the book a chance. Your jaw will drop in that, “dun dun dun” moment and you’ll say, “Wait, what just happened?!”

The Last Bride
I love Beverly Lewis & her books in a series. I love the good ending. I also enjoy her characters and the family ties. I like that the dad was not turned in to a strict old order Amish man.It did seem though that the relationship of Tessie & Jacob went too fast, it seemed rushed. It did not give the reader a belief that Jacob was such a perfect young man that he just accepted Tessie no matter what her back ground had been. I just felt that more time should have been given for Jacob to express some kind of concern he & or his family could have had.All in I love Beverly Lewis books.

Wonderful read
I loved this book just as I do all of this series and truly this authors works. You’ll love getting to know Tessie better and follow her story. I also loved the story of her sister Mandy we’re treated to. And as normal the wise woman makes appearances and shares wisdom for all.

I gave this book a five star rating because it was interesting and Kelpt me wanting READ more the setting was good and being that some of the names of the people's from B/L other books seem to make better to put the characters in place I liked that I put the WITH people from the same town like the bishop and Ella Mae I just loved these characters from previous books the last book before this one wasn't as good to me so I had my doughs about this one but as it turned out it was a very good book thank you beverly lewis for this good read greAt job

5th in an Amish Series
I read this on the KindleThis was a really good read once started i didn't want to put it downWhile i think it was how i expected i was also guessing if the story would go this way or that wayit certainly a good one & the 5th in the Hickory Hollow series i have read all the series & while this can be read as a stand alone one it would be better if you read all in order so when different people are mention you know who they are

relaxing
I love reading the Amish books as it shows a gentle, respectful life and even though they work hard it comes across as they enjoy one another most of the time and share wonderfully Maybe I am just wistful when I read them...
