Perfect for Bathrooms, Laundry Rooms, and Home SpasThe DewStop Condensation Sentry Fan/Light Switch is great for use in bathrooms, laundry rooms, sun rooms, spa rooms, and all condensation-prone areas of the home. Packaged as a single fan/light switch that's easy to install, this unique device can be connected with any residential fan or light fixture you care to use. NOTE: A closed room and quality fan properly sized for the room is essential to the successful removal of moisture. DewStop only detects condensation, it cannot stop it. Easy InstallationWhether your fan is controlled by a timer or toggle, you'll have no trouble removing its switch and replacing it with DewStop. DewStop's size and shape are the same as a rocker switch, so it will fit right into your existing single-switch position. DewStop comes with a decor/rocker single-position color-matching faceplate, but it can be used with a faceplate of any color or configuration designed for a rocker-type light switch. Prevents Mold, Mildew, and Expensive RepairsMold needs moisture and time to grow. If left unchecked, it can get into walls and cause costly cosmetic, health, and structural problems. That's why the DewStop Condensation Sentry Fan/Light Switch ensures your room is never left damp, so mold has little chance to grow. DewStop does this by detecting moisture and running your fan long enough to dry out a damp environment. This greatly reduces the formation of mold, mildew, and harmful bacteria and saves you from expensive repairs. The DewStop Condensation Sentry Fan/Light Switch is UL certified. It has an electrical input of 120 volts and a maximum fan load of 3 amps. What's in the BoxDewStop FS-200 Condensation Sentry Fan/Light Switch (White), wire nuts, and installation guide. DewStop comes with a single-position color-matching faceplate, but it can be used with any faceplate designed for a rocker-type light switch. From the Manufacturer DewStop is intended for use in condensation problem areas of a home, such as near the shower or bath. If condensation is a problem or suspected to be a problem, simply replace your existing fan switch with the DewStop Fan Switch. For DewStop to sense dew (condensation), the room will need to show visible signs of wetness attaching to the surfaces, such as steam on walls, mirrors or fixtures. Visible steam in the air is not the problem, the problem occurs when moisture in the air becomes too heavy and the air cannot support the moisture. The moisture then moves to surfaces (this is the dew point), triggering the DewStop sensors. The remarkable DewStop fan switch is constantly checking the air for condensation. At the right time, DewStop will turn on your fan and run the fan to clear the room. After the room is clear of moisture, DewStop turns off your fan. Your fan can also be manually operated at any time. This model is for use with any residential fan. The Patent Pending sensor "Condensation Sentry" is at the top. One button manually turns on or off the fan and the other manually turns on or off the light. The sensor needs no maintenance and provides a lifetime of use. The DewStop Fan Switch with Light Control helps prevent costly repairs due to the growth of mold or bacteria by monitoring and controlling condensation. The DewStop Fan Switch with Light Control is UL certified. The electrical input is 120 volts and the maximum fan load is 3 amps. The DewStop Fan Switch is great for use in bathrooms, laundry rooms, sun rooms, spa rooms and all condensation areas of the home.

Good product, but then a big problem, then good again
I like this product a lot. It's a great idea and if you have a significant other who simply can't remember to turn the bath fan on, then this is the thing you need.A few minor quibbles: I've found that the level of humidity needs to be really high for the DewStop to kick on. The mirrors will be all fogged up and the thing still will not have kicked on. You need to have the hot shower going for a good 5 or 6 minutes before the DewStop starts. Part of this is the way the humidity works. Let the bathroom fog up, and then crouch down a foot, and then another foot. You'll find that the humidity seems to descend from above, and bear in mind that the DewStop switch is located about where all switches are, about 3.5 feet off the floor. I have a feeling that if I could move the switch up another foot or two the DewStop would kick on much earlier. Bear in mind this is no fault of the DewStop, but it may affect your experience. One other thing: the DewStop runs for 30 minutes, and there is no way to change this setting. I installed a powerful bathfan, and I have a feeling that it running for 10 minutes after my shower (20 mins total) is sufficent to clear the room of humidity. After 20 mins the room feels dry, the walls are dry, and the mirror is fog free. This is a minor thing, though.__________________________________________________________________All of the above was written after I'd installed the DewStop and used it for about a week. After three weeks of use, though, the light switch stopped working. The light always remained on. I clicked away on the switch and it made a clicking sound, but the lights wouldn't go out. I disassembled and checked all my wiring, and there was no problem with my wiring. The switch just stopped working and stuck in the on position. It could be I just got a lemon. This is a new product and perhaps they're still getting a bug or two worked out. I should note, though, that this $59 switch is made is China. Sometimes quality control in China isn't the greatest. I got three good weeks of use out of the DewStop, but $20 a week is too much to pay for a lightswitch.__________________________________________________________________Well, I posted the above and returned the switch and then I got a comment on my review asking me to contact customer service at Dewstop. I emailed them and got a personal reply back three hours later. The lady said that some bad relays had been included in some of the first units shipped, and she apologized for my having trouble. She said they'd sorted the problem out and that Dewstops were now totally good to go. She then sent me a free Dewstop which I've installed and which is working just as it should. It's only been a few days so I'm going to wait a bit before bumping the stars way up, but I am very impressed at the company's honesty and willingness to do a customer right. You can often tell a lot about the quality of a product by the way a company stands behind it. Good for Dewstop for dealing with this in a forthright manner. I'll post again in a couple weeks and let you know how the switch is working.____________________________________________________________________(3/13) I've had the new Dewstop I got from the company installed for four weeks now and it's working like a champ. Comes on as it should, light clicks on and off, all systems go. Good for Dewstop for fixing the problem and putting out a good product. One thing I have noticed, and this is not the Dewstop's fault, is that one of the "problems" with the unit is that the sensor is there at light switch level. Warm, humid air and the accompanying condensation descend from above. That means that the mirror is going to get all foggy before the unit kicks on. I imagine if you could move the Dewstop switch up a couple feet the unit would kick on much earlier. If you're doing new construction (and if there are tall people in your house!) this is a great idea. Also, if you have this unit teamed with the junky, builder grade asthmatic fan that came with your house, you're not going to get the true 100% experience. If, on the other hand, you put the Dewstop about 5 feet off the floor and paired it with a good $60-$80 bathfan that really moved some air, then wow, you'd really have something. All in all, it's a good product that now works quite well. If you have a spouse or kid that just can't remember to turn on the bath fan, this is a great solution.

1 1/2 years of service.
The FS-200 DewStop performed its duties well for one and a half years. Yes, at times it was annoying to have to fumble in the dark for the correct switch to turn on the lights, or having to turn the fan switch off manually since a half hour of venting hot air into sub zero temps is a bit excessive. What was important though was that the humidity in my bath was fully controlled with no remorse. Unfortunately, even our hero of the story, the FS-200 DewStop, met his end prematurely by just doing its job. Last week I found it had faced its Maker but had died with the lights and fan still running. The only way to stop it in its dying mission was to shut off the breaker. Once turned on again it would not restart these devices. As an electrician, I performed the necessary postmortem and found the unmistakable smell of burned electronics. Any other manufacturer can replace his duties, so RIP FS-200 DewStop. Side note: Replaced with switch which only controls humidity and now have separate toggle light switch for easy turning on of lights in dark.

Good switch, needs a slight design modification
Installs pretty straight forward. In our recent bathroom remodel I put down travertine tile in the whole bathroom, wanted to make sure we always kept humidity under control. With the way my wife's morning routine would go with the kids, she was getting out of the shower just a few minutes before leaving the house. and having 2 dogs one of which still loves to occasionally shred rolls of toilet paper, leaving the door open when no one is home isn't an option, So to error on the side of caution, i would have her leave the fan on, which i would shut off when i got home from work. Problem is this puts a lot of extra unneeded wear on our expensive bathroom fan.Enter this. Yes it kicks on automatically if someone forgets, Although as others have mentioned, because of position, (at light switch height) it really does take quite a lot of humidity to kick on. i wish this were adjustable but it is not. So i have to ding it a star since its big thing is automatically switches on. However, i do thing that if the humidity levels arent high enough to trip this, they arent high enough to cause damage to the floor and wall tile. We just turn it on as we go in to take a shower. The 30 minute timer is what saves us, she can let it run when she leaves and it will shut off, saving electric and premature wear on our fan.The bottom switch is the fan, and obviously this isnt optional to switch as the sensor would then turn the light on and off. And having a 4 year old that cant quite reach the light only the fan, is a slight annoyance but he grows everyday so soon wont be a problem. All in all, it hits what i needed to, but i ding it a star for not having a humidity sensor adjustment. Would still recommend, and buy again.I have had this installed now for like 4 or 5 months.
