There's no fluff writing in this book, but with lovely photography and graphics throughout it has been a pleasure to read. The instructions for the preparations are precise and relevance of moon/planet locations is very well explained. Definitely recommend as a starter book for folks interested in biodynamic gardening. I look forward to applying the practices at my farm next season.

Best book on Biodynamics yet.
This is the book I've been looking for! Others seemed to have only parts of the information or were too deeply centered on just the astrology aspect, or too simplified to be of any use to an experienced gardener. This book gives lots of good information on how to grow each kind of garden plant and several fruit trees as well. It helps you to understand how the weather and time of year affect different plants as well as how the plants affect one another and their soil needs. It gives suggested companion plantings. It is pleasant reading and held my interest for most of the first day I received it. It also explains background and astrological and weather effects and how to work in concert with nature and natural means of enriching the soil etc. Best book purchase I've made all year. Worth the money.

Excellent
I've been interested in biodynamic gardening for some time but I was intimidated by how much there was to learn. This book makes the method incredibly easy to understand and digest. There are many helpful and beautiful photos, illustrations, charts, and tables that make this method approachable and accessible. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in biodynamics.

The first step to a perfect garden!
I love this book! I’ve always wanted to learn about the finer points of things like crop rotation and composting, and this book has COMPLETELY demystified it for me! It tells you about what crops grow best next to each other or what kind of manure works best.Best of all, it explains how to gather and store seeds and roots for the next year!

Well made book/ Too impractical
Book is definitely well-written. Layout is enjoyable to look through. Pictures are of good quality. Unique information to consider. Unfortunately, the practically of the techniques mentioned are just way too unrealistic. Stirring water with a stick for 20 minutes? Burying animal horns for 6 months to make a silica spray? For sure, a quality written book with interesting concepts, just not very applicable.

I have questions... many, many questions...
As an avid gardener and permaculture enthusiast this book has left me with more questions than answers. Most of the techniques presented, at least in my case, have the potential to attract unwanted rodents and animals.I live on 100 acres of preserved forest land so gardening without pesticides while using the natural cycles of nature is vital. This being said, there really is no situation where I am going to hang stuffed stag bladders from trees. I will likely never stuff an intact skull on a full moon in the spring while some planet falls into alignment when cowpats are mewed, and I will not stuff intestines with herbs or leave rotting meat in a bog garden (gross). I admit the horns stuffed with mewed cowpats seems like a neat trick and the books layout is lovely.I genuinely appreciate those who will go to these lengths, but all considered this book is a real eye opener about the intense practices called "biodynamic gardening" that suggest that the techniques described are pretty unreasonable for most people to pursue. This book left me scratching my head with questions. It also makes me look twice at the biodynamic products I see on store shelves.

Excellent pictorial biodynamic bible.
very good explanations of the moon cycle and the special mixtures. Even better info on each plant, where it sits in the catirgories of leaf, fruit, flower and root. How and when to plant, harvest and store. am thrilled with this lovely pictorial book and gave my friend one too.

I am a teacher of biodynamic farming and gardening. This book has been thoroughly embraced by our students. The beautiful illustrations and simple and to the point explanations about everything biodynamic is a wonderful complement to our curriculum. Traditional course materials are very scientific, philosophical and difficult to understand for any beginner. This book is going to become our standard teaching resource. It is also a key book in my library. When someone visits and asks "what is biodynamics" I can pull this book out and allow them to browse through. Wonderful!
