Dexter-Russell 9189;-inch Heavy Duty Kitchen Shears

I had a similar pair made by Henkel Zwilling which were excellent, but I lost the spring by accident. These looked identical and I compared them, and they are exact shape, size and weight. But somehow they don't work/cut as well as the Henkels. The hinge's rivet is loose, and that may be the reason that it does not cut well. I ended up cannibalizing the spring from this one, and using the Henkel again. An expensive way to get replacement parts! ;-)

Really wanted a better pair of poultry shears for spatchcocking chickens. Have used the cheap ones for years but I thought something more heavy duty would make it easier to take the backbone out. I have used Dexter knives for years and thought the name meant decent quality. I was very wrong. They do not cut well and the spring bent on the first use. Got the spring back in but now they won't even cut deboned meat or even open a bag! The cheap ones are honestly more useful than these even if you have to replace them every 6 months!

These shears are a joke. I had to go to my tool bag to get some shears that would work to spatchcock a chicken. The pivot is not tight and the blades do not actually shear against one another. I don't know if these were a knockoff or just poor quality. I do not recommend.

I purchased these shears to 'spatchcock' chicken with authority...however, my wife and I experienced them coming apart when they are perpendicular...could be a problem...

Strong and easy to disassemble to clean. I have had one for years and bought this as a gift.
