The soldering station was working great until today. It suddenly stopped heating up and was giving me an error - - - ? I used it sparingly and it didn’t last me very long.

The top displayed temperature overruns the lower set temperature and keeps getting hotter until an "Error" message is displayed. The instructions are not helpful in troubleshooting this problem. What's most annoying is there is no manufacturer contact information in the instructions, on the box, or on the unit, only "Maxwell" printed on the top of the unit. A google search for "Maxwell SIT05" did not return any helpful results.

The temperature of the tip stays at the setting while soldering. It has a good selection of tip types/sizes as well. It warms up fast and does a good job.

Truly wonderful quality soldering iron, a joy to work with. But good golly what brain addled space alien designed the user interface for the digital temperature control. Works great once you figure it out but don't throw out your user manual.

I have owned this for a year now and the plastics on the pen are done. The soldering pen collar is gone and can't hold the heating element anymore. I tried looking to see if I can order a replacement iron/pen but can't find one on amazon or online. It works well on temperature control and fast heating, but don't expect it to last too long. The desoldering tool also fell apart about 6 months after purchase and had senn very little use.

This thing has gotten me through a ton of work, so I can't fault it too much. The temperature control while mostly accurate, really isn't depending on the tip you are using. Some of the provided tips don't conduct heat well where they should, so you end up with inconsistent results. The wand itself gets very hot, so much the plastic will start to degrade after a few months of use. Lastly, tips.. If you need replacement tips for this thing, you are on your own. The provided tips will wear out much more quickly than others (the chisel tip literally melted in on itself after a few months use). Finding replacement tips for this thing is impossible. They do tell you in the Q&A section what the size of the tips are, but do not tell you where to purchase them - you know why? Because no one makes them. It would seem the only way to get new tips is to buy a whole new unit. There are better on the market, I would probably not recommend this thing to anyone.

Great quality feel. Heats up quickly. Sleep function works great.

It arrived damaged and before I could send it back my wife threw it in the garbage
