Litem Food Waste Basket Bin W/Handle 2.6L (Dark Gray)

This food waste basket is light, sturdy, and seals well without any smell, after 4 days use until it was full, emptied on morning of 5th day. For a couple, you'd probably empty it every 3-4 days, depending on how much food waste you generate each day. As mentioned, no smell with lid closed, little smell when you lift the lid off--I found that tossing in used tea bags really helps to absorb any strong odors. For a family of four the size will seem small and you'll need to empty it every 2, maybe 3 days. It would be really easy to clean, as there's an inner plastic basket that traps and aerates the food waste, and this piece is easily pulled out and cleaned. Or, for no mess whatsoever, this bin size is perfect for inserting one Trader Joe's green compostable produce bag, and when full you can tie off and throw into your big green recycling bin and it shouldn't attract as many flies. Overall, an excellent buy.

Its a nice bucket for organics - sturdy, looks decent, seals pretty well. It does have an inner shell that has ventilation slots on the bottom, but I put a bag inside, so that is kind of moot for me.As others have mentioned, the lid seals to that inner shell, and there is no good way to have the edge of the bag slide in-between the inner and outer shell, so that can get a bit messy, and the bag isn't going to stay in place well when you open and close it. However, the friction for the seal is pretty good, so I do is just fold the edge of the bag over the top, and essentially clamp it shut with the lid. Works fine, keeps organic stuff locked away.It also is not very large. Since I am mostly just cooking for myself, it is not a problem. But I suspect it may be too small if you are cooking for a family, or frequently use ingredients where you are discard a lot of it.

This food bucket collects scraps on our counter for later transfer to the compost pile outside. The light gray interior liner bucket does not go to the bottom of the exterior bucket so you lose space at the bottom. However the top does not fit securely with the liner removed. But that lost space aside, it is very easy to clean, Holds no odor, easy to take out and dump, a nice size for a few days scraps. I am pleased.

I have a small, modern kitchen and I wanted an understated compost bucket that matched the kitchen. This bucket is a perfect match. What's really nice is there is a basket within the bucket that allows the cuttings to drain. Easy to empty and cleans up quickly. I'd highly recommend. It is plastic, however it is durable and looks great. I'd buy it again.

I always just used a bowl with a plate on top but this is a real upgrade. Perfect size for my family of 4. inner basket sits off the bottom about a 1/2 an inch so liquid can drain. Very easy to clean. lid is tight and prevents smells from escaping. Square form factor is appreciated ,no wasted space on my countertop.

I was looking for a kitchen bucket to transport scraps to outdoor composter. This one is a winner. It has a clean look when it sits on the counter. We are a family of three and this holds about 2-3 days of scraps. It seals tightly so there is no smell. There is a strainer inside that does what it is meant to do. I like that I can take the strainer out and put scraps,coffee grinds,ect.. into outdoor composter with ease. This cleans out nicely. This is perfect,easy and exactly what I needed. Thank you for such a great product.

This is on the small size but that is what I wanted. I regularly (usually daily) put our kitchen wastes in composting. Works so well because of the vented basked that fits in the container. Keeps it much fresher. Very easy to clean and has a nice look on our kitchen counter.

For 2 people, we find we are dumping this out every other day. We use 12 L (3 gallon) compost bags from Costco and at 2.6L this doesn't fill 2/3 of the bag. Would also be nice if there was a way to open it with your hands full of scraps.

This is just good size for food waste for couple. I empty every 2-3 days. since I got this, no bad smell from food waste.
