Fit perfect on my 03 Silverado 4.8 and was $30 cheaper than the local parts house for the exact same product. Easy to install, would buy again.

the seal was installed backwards! glad i had a new one for the original cover that i couldn't locate(might have accidently thrown it out with dod/afm parts). after reading many reviews about the main seal leaking after installing. spent alot of time checking manuals,videos and forums on which way it is supposed to be installed in the cover. not a bad deal as long as you don't have to do this job twice! installed on a 5.3 truck motor.

If you have oil dripping down between the engine and transmission then this is the seal to replace. You have to pull the transmission to get access or a least slide the transmission back far enough to have room to work. I did this in a gravel driveway with a jack on 4x8 plywood & ratchet straps. One strap & wood block to hold the convertor in place. I did not use the “Doorman installation tool” I installed it using light even pressure alternating between bolts to keep the new seal plate as flat to the engine block as possible. Following up with the correct tightening pattern & torque spec. It’s been over a year and no leaks. The old plate seal was so brittle it cracked in several places.

Installed this on my 2005 Suburban 5.3. I did not realize the seal came pre-installed on the housing. I did not buy the install tool. Instead I removed the seal and use the cheaper aluminum aligning tool to center the housing. It worked and with several hundred miles the seal is working. If I were to to this again, I would bite the bullet and buy the centering tool to save the hassle of removing the seal. Do not attempt to install this without using the tool. The seal gives the false impression that it is self-centering. Wrong answer. When you tighten the bolts, they can move the housing off center. So do not take the chance. Given the incredible amount of labor to do the job, it is poor economy to skip this vital step. Also missing is a vital piece of information as to whether you should use lube to install the seal. I cannot remember if I did, but I think it is supposed to be installed dry. Please confirm as I am writing this several months after the job. I just remember it was and issue and I called Dorman to confirm, but cannot remember the answer. Sucks that they do not put that piece of information in BOLD print on the instructions.

I have just received this today and can already know it will be worth to buy anything of Dorman quality. The AMZ version is a joke....D++++ Premium....is junk.

Didnt need the centering tool for this kit. Followed torque sequence and no leaks.
