The packaging is eye-catching, the laser-cut parts are easy to remove, and the entire project is incredibly simple to complete. However, then what? What is the purpose of the three, prong-shaped tools that come with the microscope? Without microscope slides and coverslips, how is one to use it? This project is grossly too simple for an adult, and the end result is useless to a child. Indeed, a novelty to look at, but totally worthless as a functioning microscope....... I couldn't recommend it for anyone! If you are looking for a microscope for a child, then spend a little more money and get them something that they can use................. "Lazer-cutting" can be an art form ... i.e. the "flashing" or "tab" of material remaining after the perimeter of the part/piece has been formed is what retains the item in the wood template. If it is substantial, the properties in the "ply" of the wood will not allow it to be removed without undesirable ("splintering") damage. The suggestion of ... "using a (X-acto) knife or some other tool to extract ..." the piece from its stubborn location should be MONITORED and performed by a responsible adult!Be careful with small (fragile) parts, sharp edges, and use sandpaper liberally! And have a GREAT time!

As wild as this seems, compared to some other wooden puzzles I've put together, this one was actually not too hard, which surprised me. There were a few tricky parts, but e figured it out without too much difficulty. The piece allowing it to swing forward or back so you can adjust the angle is just a little... Wobbly, so not as secure as I would like. Considering it's just going to sit there most of the time, it should be fine in the long run.This is a gift, and it stands around a foot and a half tall? So we're going to need a big bag for it.Is functional! And keeps out almost all the light! The 2 little tiny parts that let some light in are easily blocked. Otherwise, it is pretty solid looking.Definitely happy, definitely would recommend

Came without multiple parts. The part that allows the barrel to rotate is held by a single piece of wood. Seems flimsy for something holding a significant portion of the weight of the final product.

I only bought this after the price dropped. As it does not use a ton of parts. It works and looks great! It is a solid model. the instructions are just "okay". It would have been nice to add a few glass slides so this could be used after the build. I had a few at home so it didn't matter much to me. If you buy this you will need glass slides to check out the functionality of this model.

this was a little frustrating build. the instructions are not great. They don't even show how to load or use it. It uses pictures (very small) to let you know how to put it together. More pictures at different angles would have helped.other than that, once completed this is a very heavy, solid model. It works great, looks great.
