Great flash, but be careful with filter sizing
Works well for dental photography. Note that if you want to use a filter with this flash, the manual is a bit ambiguous and unclear about how to do this. I bought a 58 mm filter to put after the Macrolite adapter on the 100mm f/2.8L IS, but before the flash. The flash doesn't fit onto the lens properly this way (but thanks to Amazon's excellent policies I just returned the filter and bought a different size). The manual suggests that this should work, but isn't very clear. To use a filter correctly, either: a. Buy a 67mm filter for the front of the flash and screw it into the threads on the flash. b. buy a filter of whatever your lens filter size, put it directly on the lens, and then screw the macrolite adapter to the filter.

Super expensive, not worth the price
Super expensive, not worth the price. If it triggered remote strobes via wireless like the 430 and 600 et units do, it could be justified. As it is, it puts out great light for macro, but the Polaroid cheapo unit would probably give you similar results. Works great, way overpriced. Stars are for build quality and function. Works great.

Good Quality Device, instructions need to be simpler.
This is a high quality Ring Flash. I bought it to go with my new 100mm Canon Macro L. The flash requires a 67mm to 58mm adapter to fit on the 100mm and will on other lenses as well. You will want to check the filter ring size for the lens you plan to attach this too. If it is not 58mm you are going to need an adapter to make it work. It is well built, solid device that you would expect from Canon compared to a knock off or aftermarket brand. The reason I have given this only 4 stars is that I think it is high time that Canon and other OEM's remove the dictionary style user guides that come with their equipment and give more user friendly guides on the basics and how to quickly set up the stuff and get going. The basic settings you need to get it going. I am certainly not a Novice, and consider myself to a be Pro-sumer of Camera equipment... I was able to figure it out fairly well... but not everyone can do that that will want to use this.

Delivers enough light to work very well.
Delivers enough light to work very well with the 100mm macro lens Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Fixed Lens for Canon SLR Cameras it was designed to work with. High speed synchronization works as expected. Quality build as would be expected from Canon. Batteries last a long time.

The Canon MR-14EX II is well built, 11 year old outdated technology
I purchased the Canon MR-14EX II Macro Ring Lite thinking that it would be better than the Godox MF-R76C Macro Ring Flash. After ordering I did a quick dive comparison, only to find out that the Canon MR-14EX II only had less than half of tge features that The Godox MF-R76C see has. With tax I was paying $642.75 for a Canon MR-14EX II that introduced in 2014 with only a few upgrade to the old MR-14EX. Also, if wanted to use it with my Canon RF100mm F2.8 L Macro IS USM lens I would have to buy a $40.00 Adapter bringing my cost for the Canon to $685.75 for 11 year old technology. My research put the Godox MF-R76C TTL Macro Ring Flash as the number 1 choice with upto date technology that was introduced in 2023 for half the price, with tax at $315.00. The Canon is well built like a tank with 11 year old technology that provide one third of the features at more than twice the cost. I'm a Canon fan an all my camera equipment is Canon. However, due to the outdated features of the Canon, I decided to buy a Godox Canon MF-R76C. Unless you want to spend twice the money for 11 year old technology than the Canon is for you.

Works fine!
Bit smaller than the older version and locking is more convenient. So far, I'm happy with it. No issues.

"This ring flash is truly the best by Canon"
I getting ready to buy the older version to this ring flash until I did my research. I have the strobe units 600 Ex-Rt and this no different. This unit even has wireless trigger capability. I had no idea until I read the manual. This product is the best. But did you expect anything less by Canon??? I would think not. Thanks Amazon. EG

Well made and very flexible in use.
This ring flash unit very well put together and locks firmly in place on its mount in whatever rotation it is set to. Provides good control over the degree or amount of flash provided as well as the balance between two flash tubes. Somewhat pricey, compared to some other units out there, but it is well worth the price if you are serious about macro photography. Fits the Canon MP-E 65mm directly and the 100mm Macro with an adaptor ring. A pleasure to use.

Best marco ring lite available
Excellent metering for great exposures every time. No guessing. Hi quality and fits macro lenses perfectly. Don't bother with the cheaper versions. You won't like them if you are looking for quality.
