10/10 creative recipes but super easy
Joanna really outdid herself. Everything about this book is exceptional. From the font, the structure of the book, the recipes, all of it. I have diabetes and even though I had my baby already.. great recipes made it into my life forever!

Takes all the guesswork out of making a meal plan for GD
I absolutely loved this book. It has comprehensive meal plans and weekly shopping list which took all the work out of eating for GD. The recipes are delicious and simple that the whole family can enjoy. Best cookbook purchase for GD.

Approachable and Useful Resource
Really appreciate this book! I found the recipes to be approachable and the fact that each week has a shopping list, as well as meal prep suggestions, it gives me confidence that I can do this on my own! Thank you!

Looks great!
Wow!!!!! So I bought this when I thought my GD results were positive and just kept it when I found out I don't have it. All I have done is flip through, but I'm so excited to try these! I love the "option" and "complete the meal" sections because it takes the guess work out of what to have with it.

Uses non-pregnancy friendly ingredients!
I was excited to get this cookbook when I was initially diagnosed with gestational diabetes thinking it would help me navigate through the new set of nutritional guidelines I needed to adhere to. The first recipe we made (one-pan chicken) was so bad that I cried just thinking that this was what my next 3 months was going to look like. The Blueberry breakfast cookies were not at all the consistency that a cookie needs to be to bake correctly, the fajita bake came out with overcooked steak and under-cooked veggies in a pool of grease. Finally I made one of the salads which was good, but then I realized that they included feta cheese in the recipe which isn't even recommended for pregnant women to consume. It's like a nutritionist and a blogger who'd had GD decided to make a cookbook although neither had ever cooked before and they overlooked basic pregnancy food guidelines in favor of what would be low on the glycemic index. Will be returning.

Not enough pictures
The recipes sound nice but I'd have liked more pictures so it would help me decide what to make. I've barely used it as I use the internet more - as it has more pictures to entice me!

Great for my gestational diabetes.. not my palate
I tried to do one week of this diet exactly as written in the book. I stopped two days short because I did not like the recipes very much. Some were okay, but the amount of effort required to make "okay" food was not worth it for me. Also, I felt like the amount of food was sometimes way too much for one meal. However, all the meals I did make kept my blood sugar steady.

Useful but recipes aren’t great
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes recently and purchased this to help with managing the condition. It is useful particularly the into and information sections at the beginning. It also has a 4 week meal plan which takes a lot of the stress out of planning meals. However the recipes really aren’t great. I’m not a fussy eater but I really didn’t like many of these recipes. Also it’s an American book so lots of converting from cups and buying alternative ingredients if you’re in the UK.

Not for me
Would not have bought this book regardless of the reviews. Did not work for me. Found another book that I actually read and took notes from

Limited info up-front; recipes far too american
This book is written for an american audience - with cups, ounces etc. Overall the recipes are for american cuisine - i.e. quite plain, meat and tacos with an odd focus on replacing 'fast-food' rather than just providing a broader range of meals - philly steak, sloppy-joes and "cheese-burger soup" (no thank you!) . The intro section is useful, but I found far more info on gestational diabetes dot co dot uk incl info on NHS guidelines etc - so for me this was a waisted purchase.
