The smart plug is of very good quality. It is very easy to setup and customer support is also good. Integration with google home and Alexa is straightforward. It retains the original status after power failure. It is suitable for 16amp Indian plug and sockets. There are few shortcomings:1. It does not have a local button to switch it on or off and therefore it can be used with a mobile phone only.2. It works only when connected to internet so if internet fails, you can not switch on the connected device.3. It can not be used with ifttt. This limits the applications of this plug. It can not be triggered by other sensors.If you need a simple plug with 16 amps capacity that need not be triggered by external sensor and simple daily scheduling meets your requirements. Go ahead and buy this plug. Reasonable price and No converters required to connect to Indian plugs.

This is a good product at this price. Set up is pretty simple. Only thing that has to be kept in mind that it cannot be set up on a 5 GHz WiFi band. The range of access for this product is very limited. Cannot expect the device to be in one corner of the house and control all devices in different rooms. If you have multiple IR devices in multiple rooms it's better to install the product in each of the rooms.I configured Tata Sky on this device. The channels on Tata Sky are not updated in the App. So the best you can do is to switch on and off the STB and manually navigate the channels through EPG. The responsiveness of the App control is not at par with original remote. That means if you press any button on the App of takes a few seconds for the STB to respond.

1. Unreliable - I also have smart plugs from Havells & Tata Power. Unlike other smart plugs, the Oakter Smart Plug is not usable as it is very unreliable when used via Internet. Even when the plug is next to the router, it keeps on crashing and gives errors. The only way to recover is to restart it and this is needed multiple times a day and each restart requires you to physically unplug and re-plug the device. If you are away from home, you just cannot rely on this device. If you have connected a Geyser with a plug in a hard-to-reach place, you will have a hard time2. Poor Wifi range - It can only catch WiFi in the room where the router is. The range is so low that you might as well use a non-smart plug manually.3. Slow cloud - Takes about 5-10 seconds to respond when used via the internet. Many times this crashes the smart plug.4. No button - Other smart plugs have a button so you can manually use your device if WiFi is down or if you are standing next to it. This is not possible on this plug. You will be searching for your phone all the time to use the plug.5. Invasion of privacy - Even after successful registration via e-mail, the app keeps on nagging you for your phone number etc. It will keep on asking you for personal information and make your user experience horrible until you relent.6. No power consumption meter - Unlike other smart plugs, this one does not tell your electricity usage statistics.Lastly, there is a reason this smart plug is not returnable while other brands offer returnable smart plugs. The manufacturer knows you will regret this purchase.

Excellent product.Range is moderate, little weaker than a phone antenna. Product will not catch the signal if cell phone shows one bar in the antenna.The plug can be remotely accessed via phone data ( provided it is connected to a router). This may be used to power on a water heater before reaching home etc.The plug is slightly bulky. After connecting the plug of the appliance, the whole unit protrudes out and is quite visible.The finish of the plug is premium.The plug does need internet connectivity to work. If the internet connectivity is off, it remembers the last switched mode and continues to hold that.There is a small led on the front to indicate the switch mode ( ON/OFF), which may be an issue if one would use it to power lights of a room.Installation is a piece of cake. My 7 year old installed one of the plugs!! Can be accessed through a range extender, provided all are connected to the same network. It has a nice timer mode which can be used to switch ON an appliance at a particular time of the day.The switching is done only for one terminal and not all 3 ( just like a conventional switch)Compatible with Google home.I am using it to run my water pump. It save me the trouble to run to the switch when my over head tank overflows.

I appreciate that we have a made in India product as such. However compared to the Solimo brand or my crompton led light bulb, there is a latency and a lag between your spoken command to actually an action, sometimes upto 3-5 seconds. This becomes truly irritating over a period of time. These are available at a discount, I’m hoping that they will clear their stock and release fresh updated models.Talking about the 6A smart plugs, this thing is larger than your usual plug, but very well designed ergonomically. You can easily plug it in and it allows for some depth and travel that doesn’t obstruct the functionality of the switch beside it.Other than the lag, the painful setup on the iPhone, not flawless like smart life or crompton, this is a good option to buy.Hoping Oakter will make everything in India, raw materials and PCB included and it will better international brands, better responsive app and plugs with no lag.
