Sugar and Vice: A Cookie House Mystery (A Cookie House Mystery, 2)

I loved the first book in this series and was excited to read the second installment as soon as it came out. I love the characters in this series, and the mystery was good, but the incorrect use of Spanish in this book ruined my reading experience and has turned me off from reading further in the series. One of the main characters, a Cuban American, keeps saying "mi hijos" when referring to her children. It should be mis hijos. This character also calls the main character "corizon" which should be spelled "corazon" - literally meaning "heart" or in this case used as a term of endearment. It shouldn't be difficult to find a Spanish-speaking person to give the Spanish terms a quick once over. The editor of this book should have done a better job with this. I am not a native speaker, but I know basic Spanish, and these mistakes bugged the heck out of me.

Nice edition to the series. I enjoyed the mystery and all the characters in the book. Can't wait for the next one

What a wonderful series! Eve did a marvelous job world building! Love that the heroine left an unhappy set of circumstances behind her and found strength, friendship and loving support from her new friends. The cookie baking descriptions are marvelous and I love her favorite cookie guessing ability!!! a definite auto buy book!!! p.s. I am a cat fan, but really adore Oliver the dog.

Not even half way through this book and already can’t put it down. This and book one are an excellent start to a new series. Bravo, Eve Calder!

This book was just what I needed to destress after a crazy morning, and I'm very grateful. Fun characters and a solid mystery.

I really enjoy this series, the characters have depth and are very real to me!! There are plenty of fun twists and turns; I’d like to see more.

This is a great book. I did not want to put it down until I finished. Looking forward to more books from this author.
