only works on potato and hard stuff / inefficient
I got this thing about 2 weeks ago. it is well made for a $15 item which is cheap plastic but if you treat it right you wont have a problem. The problem is that when it peels the skin off of any vegetable, it cuts deep enough into the fruit that it wastes a substantial amount of good food under the skin. It substantially reduces the size of any vegetable. It should come with different radius cutting blades for different things. A shallow blade for potato and cucumber, a medium blade for kiwi and potato with lots of imperfections, and a deep blade for oranges and lemons. when I try to peel over ripe fruit, the arm has enough pressure that it wont go down, it just cuts deeper and deeper. the tension of the arm should be adjustable, but it isn't.The good:Innovative designBuilt to last at least a few monthsMuch faster then hand peelerMakes it possible to peel 10 to 30 lbs potato in 15 to 45 minutes. just a bit time consuming.Makes lots of scraps for your rabbitsThe bad:Wastes a substantial amount of foodCould and should have better ergonomicsIf you have a large family and use lots of potatoes, this is going to be worth getting. I only recommend this if you don't mind wasting about 1/16 of each potato to scraps.I might be updating this review some time.

Great if you'd like to switch from the manual peeler
My mom loves this because she doesn't like to peel her potatoes. It still works after 2 years, which is great and the fact the blade still works is even better. I always found it fun to rotate the handle as a kid with our old one. By the way don't rotate to fast like I did because the previous one broke for obvious reasons (the speed of the rotation).Update 11/27/18:Still works after countless potato peels! Great tool in the kitchen.

What a saver
I bought this item for my father for Christmas 2008. We used it the same day to peel about 30 potatoes for dinner. This product reduced the time and effort of peeling the potatoes of many different shapes and sizes to around 30 minutes. After we were finished we were very quickly able to clean it and get rid of the peels. After about a year of use, it quickly became easier to peel potatoes the old fashioned way.

Actually does work well!
Looked abit unlikely to me, but as a peel A LOT of potatoes and really hate the task, it does help. Be prepared to finish off the ends. Must say that if the manufacturer would make the plastic abit more heavyweight, I'd like it better, but after 3 weeks of use, it is worth the money.

Must have!
Would not want to live without this! It is nice to have for potatoes but is a must have for pears! I canned 9 bushels of pears last year and the rotato makes easy work of peeling! I have used it for canning pears for about 6 years now and it makes it so much easier! The older ones were a little more durable than the newer ones and the blades last a long time (couple years) and my rotato gets heavy use! Would highly recommend this product!!!!

a so so product
I would have preferred that the peeler be made of metal instead of plastic. The first time I used it, it broke. I called the 800 number and left a message and within 24 hours I was speaking with someone. I am still waiting for the new piece that broke. It has been well over a week. I am hoping that it doesn't break again!

Rotato Potato Peeler is not as good as the Rotato Express Peeler
I loved the Rotato peeler but realized that the one I liked was the Rotato Express peeler. This particular model is operated by hand and it definitely is not a faster way to peel. The one that I got also had a defective connection on it's arm and would not stay together. I DON'T recommend this model but I DO recommend the Rotato Express Peeler over the Rotato Potato Peeler. The Rotato Express is electric and is quick and easy to operate. That is the one that I meant to purchase, but because of the similarities in the photo, I didn't realize that I bought the wrong one.
