The Quickie

Predictable to a fault
Imagine the most bizarre decisions and unlikely situations that a police officer could possibly find herself in and you'll begin to get the idea why this Patterson collaboration fell far short of being a good read. It seems that each short chapter ended with a bizarre and impossible predicament that was even more bizarre and impossible than the previous chapter. The main characters spend a large chunk of the book trying to justify doing the wrong things for the wrong reasons. Tedium quickly set in all too quickly.Because the book was a "James Patterson," I stayed with it until the end, hoping for some type of redemption that never arrived. Some books are diamonds, others are coal!

Quickie is a Quickie Read!
This was one of those books that my husband read and couldn't put down. He recommended it to me (we have it purchased electronically) and when I finished the book I was reading, I started on this. Didn't take me long to finish this as well. This book has so many, many twists and turns and complications that it really keeps your attention. The title really gives it away, so I won't say more about that, but this story is much more than just a quickie, which was soon regretted. I would recommend this book to James Patterson fans, and those who like a good, "quickie" read. I am not familiar with the co-author, but the two of them did a great job.

Best book by James Patterson
By far, "The Quickie" was the very best book. The twists and turns capture the reader from the beginning. Having read nearly all of James Patterson's books, this was my favorite. I recommend this book!

A book with many twists and turns
A very quick read and many twists and turns. You will drop everything you are doing to get to the end. I highly recommend!

Ethically Challanged
NYPD Detective First Class, Lauren Stillwell, also a lawyer, suspects her husband, Paul, of having an affair. Their married life deteriorating, Lauren decides to have a one-night stand of her own. She chooses a young undercover narcotics detective, Scott Thayer, who has recently made flirty advances toward her. Lauren’s night of revenge soon turns deadly when she witnesses a brutal murder. To make matters worse, she is assigned as lead detective to solve the murder. From this point on, Lauren is involved in a series of moral missteps—delaying investigative progress, deception, and falsifying and suppressing evidence all under the guise of protecting herself and her husband. The book starts off with a bang with more than enough intrigue to satisfy even the most critical mystery aficionados. Constant surprises keep the reader turning pages. I won’t go further into the story for fear of depriving the reader of these surprises. Patterson and Ledwidge enrich the story with their writing style providing humor and just the right mix of exciting narration and dialogue to bolster the story. The authors bring Lauren Stillwell to life early on. The reader gets to know her as a thoughtful but hardnosed detective. Lauren is a lovable character in spite of her continuing ethical lapses and moral misdeeds which she feels forced to engage in to protect her family. Lauren is spunky, courageous, funny and spirited. The reader quickly falls in love with her.I have read over 40 Patterson books—The Quickie is one of his very best. I rate it a 5 out of 5.

More Twists Than a Mountain Road in the Smokies
There was virtually nothing I didn't like about this book. The plot twists and turns were fantastic - you'll never see them coming. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mystery, thriller, or dramatic reads.

Page turner!
This was the first book by Patterson that I ever read and afterwards I read many more over 10 years ago. Fast forward to now and I recommended it to my book club. I remembered the base of the story but couldn’t remember the exact details and decided I better read it again so that I could talk about it during our meeting. Well, it did not disappoint the second time either. The story pulls you in and pretty soon the whole book is done. Great read!

Not just twists
This book did not let me down! At first my thoughts were, might not have picked a good read here. Then I saw so many twists and turns then drop offs. When you think I've got this figured out, you can't believe what happens! Let me tell you something, this is mind blowing!

Enjoyable
Not easy for me to find Patterson books I haven't read but just happened on "the Quickie" and was unsure at first on the subject matter as our heroine began the book having sex with a work colleague. As usual though, all becomes clear and we are taken through a thrilling ride of a story.I never find anything to critique about his books, even down to the editing, grammar etc. I love all the collaborations, who are all excellent authors in their own right. Just keep churning them out for me!

A very good read, James Patterson books usually are. Characters are believable and the suspense is kept up until the end

Great Beach Read
Overall, a,very easy and enjoyable read in the Patterson genre - lots of short chapters! The story is entirely implausible, and has sufficient twists to keep you turning the pages right until the very end. There's plenty of "Will she, won't she" themes which build up very obviously, giving the sense that the reader knows what's going to happen next...but has to keep reading, just to be sure. It's easy to keep track of where you are, so perfect for the beach and other places where 100% concentration on tricky plots and complicated characters is impossible.

The Quickie
Love the book. The best read in a long time. The build up to an incredibly exciting story had me hooked. So many twists and unexpected turns had me thinking that it had to be the end then again it turned another corner and hey were off again. The ending was fantastic and believable. Very well written. I would recommend this book my friends.
