DesignNest Levit8 - The flat folding portable standing desk, Sea, XL

Beautifully designed and manufactured.
I was told about this by a friend who’d seen it in a shop in Japan. She was gushing about it.I now know why.It is incredibly well made. I know the designers went back to traditional bookbinding to produce it: and it shows. I know it’s just a stand, but it is so beautifully made. There is a knack to opening it. My tip is make sure that, after step one (where you make the first move along the folds) make sure the Levit8 is pressed flat. The first few times you use it, it needs a little help being flat after the first move. Then the twist to open is very easy.As to sizing, I’m not ashamed, I bought 3. The large is a great height for a standing desk (I’m about 5’ 10”). My 13” laptop sits on it very securely. The small one is about a foot or so high when opened. The medium is great for my work. It just fits in my work bag (importantly!) and is high enough to work on although I would to work at that height all day.The Levit8 is sturdy as a result, I presume, of the quality of its manufacture. One of the four corners when open (where the coloured fold is) is a little ‘off’ because one of the corners has to have ‘give’ to make the thing work. But I use mine diagonally, so I’m looking down at diamond rather than a square, and keep the coloured fabric corner front or back. This is genuinely one of the most innovative things I have bought. It is the most creative, well-designed and well-made products I can ever remember having. When you open it from the packaging, it really is a ‘wow’ moment. And when you get the knack of popping it up, you give yourself a private pat in the back.It is one of those things that, when you do use it, you’ll think ‘they could have got away with charging a lot more for this’. I’m glad they didn’t. I know it’s just a ‘thing’. But it is a very special thing.

An interesting solution for a sit/stand desk
I wanted to be able to stand and work/browse/etc at my home desk. I honestly didn't think I'd end up with something that looks like a cross between a vase and a trendy office bin.I'm writing this standing with my keyboard sitting on the XL sized Levit8; XL size is probably pushing it a bit for my desk as it adds another 40cm height. It's probably not ideal for just a keyboard as there's clearly nowhere to rest the palms of your hands, but having tried it with a laptop plenty of times, that's perfectly acceptable. Once you've learned to wrestle it into shape from its flat layout when boxed (google for the video), you'll have spotted that one of its USPs is that you can store it flat or carry it around if you're that way inclined. So, yeah, it looks a bit unusual, but it's very effective, relatively sturdy, pack-away-able and a bargain to boot. Nice one.

Really good.
An excellent bit of kit. In my case I work from 5 different bases and could never hope to have a standing desk at all of them. My Levit8 fits in my backpack and goes with me everywhere. Two of my colleagues have taken one look at me and purchased their own and now we’re a cadre of smug looking office workers whose backs don’t hurt.

Works well and folds down small
Took ages to figure out how to fold it. YouTube video in the end worked. Once that’s figured it simple. Folds away very flat for storing

Sturdy and effective
I am really enjoying using the Levit8. It is sturdy enough to take the weight of another surface on which to place the laptop for space to use the mouse (my preference). The trick is to use the grooves to transform the flat device to standing. It is light enough to move when the laptop is removed so very easy to move to sitting. Packs away so unobtrusively. As I'm 160 cm (~5' 3") the Small version is the correct size. Thank you.
