the Excel K2 and the K1 hobby knives have been working for me much better then X-Acto
In my opinion, both, the Excel K2 and the K1 hobby knives have been working for me much better then X-Acto. I've used X-Acto for many years, but it doesn't take very long for the chuck to wear out, and no longer keep blades secure. Also, their safety cap loses the ability to stay on secured. I use these types of blades repeatedly. After 2 months of hard usage, the original blades have just been replaced. The X-Acto blades maybe get a few days of use before they're spent. The chucks are still maintaining their tightening and securing of blades. And the caps are still staying on nice and tight after use. The X-Acto knives began needing repeated tightening every 5-7 minutes of use, after maybe a month. The X-Acto safety caps stayed loose after a week and a half...Now I'm very hard on mine, use them everyday for several hrs. X-Acto might still be alright if you plan to use them only occasionally. If you need a heavy duty, well crafted, high quality precision bladed, hobby knife, because you'll use is like I do, this and the K1 are by far the best knives I've ever owned! Their costs are comparable to X-Acto, and even some other brands. After owning this brand, I don't plan to have to buy another, most likely ever it's looking! Now, my main concern is finding Excel blades! As great and durable as these were, I'll gladly pay twice as much as the generic or X-Acto brand blades! I highly recommend, both, the Excel K1 and K2 knives to EVERYBODY!!!! Doesn't matter the level of use you plan to use them. I believe these will be the first, and only, or last ones you'll ever have to buy! Unless you lose them or do really dumb things to em of course!

Great for grafting softwood
Got this on the recommendation of a friend. Coupled with a Schick blade, makes a great grafting tool.Careful though, its a careless move away from a cut.Nice sturdy handle, good grip that wont slip. Great tool.I find more reasons to be pleased with this everyday I graft with it.

Best sharp blades in the business and an anti-roll guard.
Fantastically sharp Excel blade in a good handle. And it comes with a guard. A guard that stays on and keeps the knife from rolling. All hobby knives should come with a guard.Recommended

Handy, used for grafting plants.
Has a nice cap. I may tie a string to keep the cap from getting lost.
