Good material but chapters are too long
I'm about half way through the book now with my test scheduled for December. The information is well presented and easy to understand. My only issue is that more than a few chapters are 50+ pages long. So far one of them is almost 70 pages. These chapters are too long in my opinion. Even if you can sit down and read through one of them in a couple of hours chances are you'll get most of the end of chapter questions wrong because you've tried to digest so much information in one go. The same issue happens if you take a few days and pace yourself through the chapter. On the off-chance the author happens to read this please make your chapters smaller in future books because it will help the reader better learn the material and it won't increase the page count.EDIT: Took the test on Feb 2nd 2020. Passed first try. Book and practice tests were my only sources of study. The content is great but I stand by my, "The chapters are way too long" statement.

A gem of a book!!!
Sam Alapathi presents a well-written and articulate delve into the seven pillars of AWS services needed to pass the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate exam. A must-read book for the exam and one to keep on the shelf for a long time. This past May, I passed the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate. Decided to continue with the Sysops exam. Ordered three books from Amazon and returned all since they all touched the basics and did not delved deep into the details needed for the SysOps exam. I was waiting for the most recently published book (2019) and found this book. My best learning skills must include something in writing, not just videos. With eleven chapters and two appendices (675 pages), it felt intimidating, but upon starting to read a chapter, I found it a pleasure to read. All combined, each chapter goes into details with clarity and clear focus, the exam tips and exercises, show the surperb dedication put in by the author. This is a great book that along with some online practice exams helped me pass the Sysops exam last Friday. Thanks you Sam!!

Best AWS certification and reference book
Like most people did for their AWS certification, I took the online courses from A Cloud Guru and Linux Academy. Although these courses were good classes, most of the topics were kept at higher levels. To better understand some of the topics, I had to constantly look for more information, which was very time consuming. Then I found this recently published book, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate. The author did an excellent job in explaining each subject in a comprehensive and methodical approach that is very easy to understand. Many architectural diagrams are a plus to those of us new to the cloud environment. This book covers all subjects for the exam. It contains step-by-step, hands-on instructions for exercises followed by questions and answers. It was an excellent book for the AWS certification exam. Not only did it help me pass the exam, it also saved me a lot of time in searching for studying material. Now I am using it as a valuable reference book on the job.

Great book
Very useful, it contains semi-detailed knowledge about almost all AWS services.I passed the exam from the first time;Reading the book + AWS Documentation + short videos from here and there + Practice everything on AWS free tier = Passing the exam!

Attempting the exam tonight
There's a lot of information here so I'm my opinion it's more than an official certification guide. AWS documentation will always reign supreme as a resource but it's good to have the end of chapter review questions and exercises to reinforce what you've learned

No good, you will fail, choose another book
Scored between 85 and 90% with online tests provided with the book for each knowledge category while studying. Failed the exam with 69%. Go figure...There is a huge gap between the SysOps associate exam questions from AWS, and the online tests provided with the book. Indeed the AWS exam questions requires you have real "hands on" experience with AWS services, how they work with each other: nothing wrong with that. But the book focus only on the general knowledge of each AWS services. And "hands on" exercises offered by this book will not come close to what you need to know....You can still pass Cloud Architect associate with that book, because you don't need to have an extensive hands on experience to pass it. But DO NOT use it for SysOps associate, you will fail.

Best book for the exam
Best book to study for the exam. This really cover most of the objectives of the exams. Other books I used were outdated.
