Anyone know how this compares to "Liquid Smoke" type products? Old family recipe for beef jerky uses LS, which is not available where I live now.

This doesn't add any particular flavour that you could pin down, it's certainly not smokey, it adds more of a Umami quality to your food though. I use it to add Umami to my smoked beef briskets as part of the marinade.

Why is there no ‘best before date’ in the picture? i'd like to know the best before end. thanks

Once Hard to Get

I first encountered this product in a restaurant in Bonn over 40 years ago, having asked the waitress how they made their hunter's sauce. Ha, ha, we can't remember how we used to make it, now that we have discovered Maggi came the reply. You couldn't get hold of it in the UK for a long time, so I used to get a friend to buy it for me and bring it back from Germany. Thanks Amazon, I didn't really need four bottles of the stuff, but with a sell by date of February 2024, I will have plenty of time to rekindle some old taste bud memories.
