Tribute to Nicolette Larson: Lotta Love Concert

Great tribute to an artist who left us too soon...great variety of performances.

We’ll produced, great songs (wish there had been some Nicolette songs) and great artist.

I love the actual cd but it came very dusty . Not just the case but the actual cd . The end of the cd also skipped and I’m hoping with a good cleaning it will stop . So probably 5 stars for cd itself and zero stars to the seller for sending out a dirty product

Lotta Love- A Tribute for Nicolette Larson- and I have a whole Lotta Love for this album!! This project harkens back to the late 70's when such groupings of Musicians in this genre would get together and rock the house with memorable performances that were truly unforgetable, to benefit one cause or another. There are some real gems here, such as a killer version of Linda Ronstadt doing Blue Bayou, with the last chorus being in spanish, or Crosby, Stills and Nash doing an arrangement of The Beatles In My Life. Another sadly ironic moment is a live version of Part of the Plan, by the late ,great Dan Fogelberg, who recently lost his own battle with cancer. The list goes on and on. I got my cd and another one was sent to a family member. They were both used and in great shape. This was well worth ordering and I highly recommend it.

These artists were clearly moved to give some very special performances in honor of their friend, the late Nicolette Larson. A great Who's Who of California Rock, these live versions of classic hits bring both freshness and a great deal of emotion to some familiar songs. Very "live" sound to the recording makes it interesting. Great versions of Fogelberg's "Part of the Plan", CSN's "Southern Cross" (uptempo), and Carole King's "Up on the Roof". Enough good tracks to get the whole album.

Great product! Well made, delivered quick and on time. No damage to the product and I thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Would buy from again in the future.

This CD has some of my favorite artists from the late 70's performing (Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, CSN, Dan Fogelberg, Joe Walsh, Carole King, etc). Each person did a solo performance and then there were a couple 'group' numbers. The solo performances were great! The group numbers were a little rough but was still very enjoyable. This is great CD when you're in the mood for variety.

Bon sang, quelle affiche! C'est ce que je me suis dit tout de suite en voyant par hasard ce concert hommage à Nicolette Larson, une chanteuse que j'aime beaucoup, très peu connue en France malheureusement. Quelques semaines après sa mort en 1997, un concert était organisé à Santa Monica (2 soirs de suite) et il a réuni une pléiade de vedettes du rock et du son west coast en particulier: Nicolette a côtoyé ces stars, participant à leurs albums respectifs ou alors en les faisant participer aux siens. Elle a été leur amie et l'émotion était donc grande lors de ces concerts. Nicolette est surtout connue pour Lotta Love, son plus grand succès figurant sur l'album Nicolette en 1978 et c'est logiquement ce titre qui ouvre le concert chanté par tous les invité(e)s. Justement, ces invité(e)s, ils ont pour nom Jackson Browne (sublime For a dancer seul au piano), Carole King, Joe Walsh, Bonnie Raitt (une voix grandiose pleine de blues et de soul), Little Feat, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Jimmy Buffet, Dan Fogelberg et Crosby, Stills & Nash!!! Forcément tout amateur de rock se pince et se dit que les spectateurs qui ont assisté à ces soirées sont de sacrés veinards, le genre de concert qui fait rêver. Tout ça s'achève, tous ensemble, comme ça a avait commencé par You've got a friend. Les musiciens qui accompagnent ces artistes font partie du gratin des musiciens californiens (Lee Sklar à la basse, Lenny Castro aux percussions, Valerie Carter dans les choeurs!...). J'arrête l'énumération, j'ai adoré ce CD et je ne regrette absolument pas, le son est en plus fantastique alors que demander de plus?! Une célébration de la beauté, de l'amitié et de la complicité. Une pensée chaleureuse pour toutes les superbes chansons que nous laisse Nicolette.

So wird der Singer/Songwriter Dan Fogelberg im Livealbum "A tribute to Nicolette Larson. Lotta Love Concert" zitiert. Der Konzertmitschnitt enthält fünfzehn Songs, die anlässlich zweier All Star-Gigs im Gedenken an die Künstlerin am 21. und 22.2.1998 im Santa Monica Civic Auditorium veranstaltet worden sind. Die einer tückischen Krankheit erlegene Nicolette Larson (1952-1997) startete ihre Karriere als Background-Sängerin vieler Stars der Westcoast-Szene, bevor sie als Solo-Interpretin mit NeilYoung's "Lotta love" groß heraus kam. Von diesen Weggefährten und Singer/Songwriter-Kolleginnen - angefangen von Carole King über Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne bis hin zu Crosby, Stills & Nash - erweisen viele der sympathischen und allseits geschätzten Musikerin auf der Tribute-Veranstaltung die Ehre. Mit einer Band von Westcoast Rock-Profis wie z. B. Waddy Wachtel (g), Leland Sklar (bg) und Larson-Ehemann Russ Kunkel (dr) im Rücken liefen so manche von diesen dann auch zu großer Form auf. Zu den Highlights auf dem Album zählt gleich der Opener, Nicolette's Top-Hit "Lotta love". Fast alle Teilnehmer des Konzert-Events machen den Song zu einer wunderbaren Erinnerung an die verstorbene Künstlerin. Bonnie Raitt wartet mit einer zu Herzen gehenden Version von "Love has no pride" auf. Begleitet nur von Bassist Freebo sowie David Crosby und Graham Nash als Background-Sängern wird bei diesem Titel im Publikum wohl die ein oder andere Träne geflossen sein. Auch Jackson Browne gibt seiner Verehrung für Nicolette Larson mit zwei seelenvollen Liedern Ausdruck. Zunächst solo auf dem ergreifenden "For a dancer", dann mit einer tollen Version von "Running on empty", verneigt sich der Singer/Songwriter vor seiner Kollegin. Linda Ronstadt verband eine tiefe Freundschaft mit Nicolette Larson. Ihre traumhaft schöne Version von Roy Orbison's "Blue Bayou" lässt erahnen, wie deren Tod ihr nahe gegangen ist. Beim abschließenden, hinreißend interpretierten Carole King-Song "You've got a friend" - wiederum vom gesamten "ensemble" in Szene gesetzt - bleibt dann wirklich kein Auge trocken. Gegenüber diesen Top-Tracks fallen allerdings manche Titel etwas ab. So klingt Michael Ruff's "Wonderful life" - solo nur mit Vocals und Piano vorgetragen - eine Spur zu süsslich. Und auch Crosby, Stills & Nash zeigen sich nicht unbedingt von ihrer besten Seite. So richtig inspiriert wirken die drei weder auf dem Beatles-Song "In my life", noch auf "Southern cross". Gediegene Singer/Songwriter-Kost bieten dagegen Dan Fogelberg ("Part of the plan"), Carole King ("Up on the roof") und der stets gute Laune verbreitende Jimmy Buffett ("Margaretaville"). Emmylou Harris bereichert das "Lotta Love Concert" mit den Country-Sounds von "Even cowgirls get the blues". Schließlich ertönen mit Joe Walsh's "Rocky mountain way" und dem im typisch vertrackten Little Feat-Rhythmus daher kommenden "Cold cold cold" noch zwei Rock-Nummern. "Großartige Überraschungen gibt es nicht - und doch geht das ganze Konzert zu Herzen: Für die Freunde eingängigen Westcoast-Sounds ist diese CD geradezu ein Muss" (Good Times 3/2006), urteilte ein Rezensent des Silberlings. Dem ist eigentlich nichts hinzuzufügen.

ニコレットの追悼コンサートですが、みんな本当に心ゆくまで歌うことを楽しんでいて、ウエストコーストロック＆フォークが輝いていた時代の貴重な1ページです。聴いていても本当に楽しいです。そして懐かしさがこみ上げてきます。最後のyou've got a friend で思わず涙が込み上げてしまいました。
