Product Description CD (19 songs) + BluRay About the Artist XTC as The Dukes - From Psychedelic Pswindon - the complete recordings in stereo and 5.1 Psurround Psound / 25 o Clock and Psonic Psunspot newly mixed in stereo by Steven Wilson, with mixes approved by Andy Partridge (CD & Blu-Ray) / Both albums + 2 extra tracks also newly mixed in 5.1 surround by Steven Wilson on Blu-Ray (with a final song up-mixed to surround using the Penteo audio system) / All 19 songs appear in their original mixes in hi-res stereo (Blu-Ray) / 18 songs appear in their new mixes in hi-res stereo (Blu-Ray)] / Complete demos from both albums & instrumental versions of album songs also feature in hi-res stereo on the Blu-Ray. Produced by John Leckie (Swami Anand Nagara) and The Dukes. Sometimes it pays to be a studio band... Between 1980 (when they were still performing live) and 1989, XTC wrote, recorded and released a series of albums from Black Sea to Oranges & Lemons that cemented the band's reputation as songwriters and recording artists almost without parallel in the UK. They may not have sold as many as some and they tended to sell more in Japan and America than on home soil. They may not be as famous as other bands of the era but, to many of those with discerning ears, they're rated among the very best, the select few who rise above their contemporaries... As if six stellar albums in ten years including two double LPs, in an era when the advent of digital technology and CDs left many artists struggling to issue one or two albums in the same period, wasn't enough, the band also issued two albums under completely different names as The Dukes of Stratosphear, an unashamedly psychedelic ensemble which phased and flanged in and out of existence in 1985 and 1987 respectively... (Though rumours continue to circulate of an earlier proto Merseybeat/Brit Blues incarnation of the band under yet another name..) Psurroundabout Ride gathers all of the Dukes' material, with both albums remixed in stereo and 5.1 surround by Steven Wilson and mixes approved by Andy Partridge. No need for mushrooms, simply position yourself between 6 speakers, play the blu-ray, relax and float downstream, as the music takes you to places un-imagined, even in the original summer of love...

The best album ever made?
I cannot believe I have lived for so long and being a life long admirer of XTC that this masterpiece has been under my radar ,well after hearing two tracks 25 o'clock and Mole from the ministry i promptly sought out the album and ordered it and I must say I was not dissapointed it exceeded my expectations it is the most brilliant, fascinating and inventive album since Sergeant Pepper's and is a sort of homage to all those wonderful psychadelic records made in the late sixties Sid Barrett Pink Floyd era,Soft machine,Beatles,Beach boys etc. but also undeniably a labour of love by XTC and producer John Leckie and the 5:1 mix is the best thing you will ever hear I honestly think it could be the greatest recording of any album in history! and as for the songs themselves I was astonished at the quality there is not one bad song here some are instantly addictive others are growers and all of them interesting and varied you will not get bored you can put the whole album on repeat all day I am now convinced it's the best album that XTC never made so buy it you won't be let down.

Not Woody Allen
Clearly influenced by Pink Floyd's The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, this is one of favourite recordings. Highlights include 25 O'clock, What In The World and The Mole From The Ministry, but there isn't a duff track on here. There are some interesting sleeve notes, some of which are from John Leckie the producer, who ranks the album as the favourite he's worked on. I had always thought the intro to one of the tracks must be Woody Allen, but apparently that's not the case (probably). In summary, the remastered version does sound sufficiently different from the original to warrant purchasing. There won't be a CD in my collection that gets more heavily played than this one in the future. It's probably a stretch to hope the band will reform, but stranger things have happened.*Additional. I've been playing this album for most of the summer in my car. One of my mates loved it, some didn't, but most importantly, my six year old son loves and repeatedly requested What In The World, The Mole Song and Albert Brown! Yer still a good man, Albert Brownnnnnnnnee"

PSYCHEDELIC
This is possibly the best and most enjoyable CD in my collection. Partridge and Moulding at their song-writing peak, use all the greatest licks, riffs, effects and vibes from the late 60s psychedelic music scene to create sheer perfection...
