3M Ultrathon Insect Repellent Spray, Splash and Sweat Resistant, 6 oz

Bought this for traveling and we love it better than any other repellant on the market.

This is great for repelling bugs and especially mosquitos. The smell is pleasant.

I like that it works,I don't like that it doesn't seem to last.

For those of you who have never encountered a deer fly- count yourself lucky. They are Satanic insects equipped with very strong mandibles, and they dive bomb your head and neck over and over in an attempt to draw then lap up blood. They are persistent too. They will follow you and the more you shoo them the more pissed they get. They are so bad that I actually abandoned my hiking trail because of them. Regular bug spry has no effect on them, but this stuff worked! It was blissful! I am absolutely thrilled with this product!

I'm really not sure how to rate this product so I put 3 stars down. I ordered Ultrathon for our recent trip to Costa Rica based on the reviews on Amazon. What I ordered from Amazon was a couple of bottles of an aerosol like the photo shows but the bottles I got, aren't what is advertised on the photo. I received bottles with those nozzles like the aerosols for Coppertone sunscreens or Banana Boat suncreens etc. I ordered this Ultrathon because I didn't want to deal with the clogging issues that the design of the spray bottles like the aforementioned brands have. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to send the Ultrathon back and get more so I just took the bottles of Ultrathon to Costa Rica that were sent to me plus 2 bottles of Sawyer brand repellent that I had at home. While on vacation my family and I sprayed frequently to avoid the mosquitoes in Costa Rica but getting the spray out of the can proved to be quite difficult. The nozzle or whatever creates the spray gets so clogged that it actually hurt my thumbs and fingers to use the bottle because you have to press SOOOOOO hard to get it to work. Even my husband couldn't make it work half the time. Ultrathon did work when we used it but it took ALOT of effort to use the product and a lot of the product in the bottles was wasted because we had to leave some of the bottles half full since we couldn't get the product out. You may think I'm exaggerating but i'm serious when I say that we literally couldn't push the spray button down. We thought that maybe it was just bad luck that the first can gave us so much trouble but it turned out that all the cans we took had the same issue. Needless to say we ended up using the Sawyer brand repellent I brought along as a back up and the spray bottle was easy to use and let out a fine mist that provided excellent coverage. The only reason we repeatedly tried using the Ultrathon for whatever spray came out was because I didn't have enough of the Sawyer brand to cover us for the length of our trip and buying bug spray in Costa Rica is very expensive and all I saw was the "OFF" brand over there. Again I wasn't sure how to rate this product because it did work when we could get it out but for all the trouble we had using it, I think next time I would just buy more of the Sawyer brand product from out local Dicks Sporting Goods Store because at $4 a bottle, it worked just as well as the Ultrathon and I didn't have any difficulty using it. Please note that Sawyer has 30% deet and even though my family tries to avoid using chemicals, we didn't mind using the higher percentage deet on this particular trip because a few of us ended up with giant size mosquito bites when we missed a spraying.

I was told this is best for traveling to Belize, my Pastor's Country. It does work. Just make sure you reapply it if you sweat it off.

Tried this for the first time almost 4 years ago, but the lotion version!! Bought it for my honeymoon in Bali, it worked so good I've been hooked on it since then!!! Only got a mosquito bite, the day i forgot to put repellent on!! It wasn't until last summer where I came across the spray one, it's even better in my opinion becauseits more practical!! But definitely harder to travel with becausethe bottle is bigger, so I do travel with the lotion version more and use the spray at home, because summer back yard mosquitos are so bad here!!!
