Power steering:-)
I have a 100 lb Airedale. He’s a sweet boy, but he has no problem dragging me across the street to say hello to another dog, and I cannot stop him if he decides to go after a cat or raccoon when we’re out walking. He completely fought the Gentle Leader (and I’m very experienced with those!). Electric collars worked briefly, but all it takes is one malfunction. Then I heard about the Canny Collar. I didn’t have high hopes, but the design made sense both for control and eliminating the risk of injury. The first time I put it on him, Reilly briefly and minimally reacted to the strap across the top of his snout, but he quickly forgot about that. The first time he tried to drag me where he wanted to go, the snout strap brought his nose down. He was surprised, but immediately walked nicely. The next day, there was no reaction to the strap. He forgot not to pull a couple times, but quickly corrected himself. We have since taken him to a couple venues that were high stimulation with other dogs and people. He’s been perfect. The ONLY reason I just gave 4 stars is because it’s not as fast to pop on as I’d like, but that will possibly resolve as I’m more used to it. I like it enough that I just ordered a second one to keep in the car.

Best design of these gentle leads!
I think my girl's face says it all! I can not say enough good things about this! I have tried many versions of these gentle leaders and this one is by far the BEST design. After reading comments the thing I saw coming up alot was not liking the yellow loop that sits on the bottom of the neck. There were a lot of reviews saying that it wasnt tight enough and that the dog was able to slip out of it because of this.....NOT TRUE. I literally thinks it's way better than the traditional one that locks into place. My girl was able to have the full 5 feet of her leash with no tension in it and it never got loose enough. That's actually probably my fav part about it. Its loose when the dog is behaving and is right there to tighten up to get their attention when you need to. I also love that it clips in the back instead of under the chin, I feel way more secure with it that way. Also it's a quick on and off so it's there when u need it and it comes with clasps to wrap the extra lead when the dog doesnt need it. I find that really helpful when I take her places and were just chilling somewhere so she can have a quick break from it. Another thing that I was a little nervous about was that it doesnt have padding over the bridge of the nose. I found d with other designs it would irritate her nose and make her fur weird. But with this one it's not locked into place on her snout so that problem is solved too. Not to mention it comes in colors so it looks less intimidating. Like I said LOVE this!

Great fit, design could be improved.
Great fit for my dog - be sure to measure beforehand! Feels much safer than the type that clips below their chin- no yanking their heads to the side. Watch that they don’t slip the loop backwards over their ears - it can be tight and a bit scary. As long as it’s worn properly, it’s great! To be clear, it’s not stretchy. I gave it 5 stars for stretchiness because I think it should not be stretchy, and it meets those expectations.Would be nice to have a clip to hold the nose loop in place from behind the head - the bit of plastic below the chin didn’t work well and she kept slipping it, defeating the purpose. We actually cut that part off, now it works pretty better for us - less loose. We have a slightly different version for our other dog that has a spring stop toggle (like on a drawstring bag) to keep the loop at the right length.Pictured: white dog with purple collar is the Canny Collar. Brown dog with black collar is a product we can’t find or even remember what it’s called, but it features the closure I mentioned. Please ignore the mess - Maggie is a super chewer and she’d just “modified” a toy.

Nice collar, but not quite what I need...
Let me start by saying that this seems like a very good quality product and company, and for many will be just the thing! I have a 135 lb Alaskan Malamute, who, by design, is a very strong puller. Even when he's not being "naughty", it's just his instinct. We've worked and worked on loose leash walking, and most of the time we do pretty well...but the off time when the prey drive kicks in and he decides to go, there is not a whole lot I can do to stop him. I tried a halti head stall (similar idea to the canny) and had decent luck, but it was ill fitting, so I decided to order a new one. After seeing all of the good reviews I went for the Canny instead. The problem is, the way this is designed he can still lean into it and pull, albeit from his face instead of chest or neck. I am able to stop him, but I feel like it's more adversive than I was looking for. With the other head collars, the lead attaches under the dogs head much like a horse halter does. That way when the animal pulls, it automatically turns them around to stop forward motion instead of allowing them to lean in and pull. I think if you started a young dog on a Canny with proper training it would be a really nice walking set, Just realize that it does pull from the back and it does tighten on the snout and neck like a martigale.

Feel in control!
I bought this with some scepticism after hating the Halti version but have been very impressed.Starting running with my dog made her difficult on a harness as I was encouraging her to pull, was recommended a Halti and just couldn't get along with it, I didn't feel in control and she worked out very quickly how to remove not only the nose band but the entire collar, usually trying to play with another dog.The Canny Collar is great, it took a couple of walks to get used to & learning how to keep everything in place, but after that have had no problems at all. I love the ability to use this as a regular collar - I don't want to depend on an anti pull device forever - to allow easy training without having to change the lead or harness.Highly recommended!

Just OK
I wanted to love this product, I really did. I've now being using it about a month and it's just not working anymore.I have a German Shepherd cross who's slightly smaller than a regular Shepherd but he's just as strong, if not stronger. He pulls extremely hard when he's excited to the point where he actually pulls my back out if he's going full force. I'm a 6ft 1" guy that's fairly muscular, that should give you some idea of the force he has.I actually had a similar headcollar to this before but that one closed his mouth when he pulled. This meant he had nasty marks from the pressure on his lips and muzzle as well as it causing him to foam at the mouth if he pulled super hard (like when he's excited to see someone).I can say this one's much better in that regard. He has zero marks from pulling in this, the problem is... He pulls much, much stronger to the point I might as well just use a regular collar or harness. The other really negative point I've found is he's figured out how to slip the muzzle part altogether now. He sits down and paws the nose part off occasionally since it's only held on by tension from pulling the lead. The yellow clip serves no purpose at all other than holding the two pieces of fabric together. After just one month, I'll be back to looking for an alternative. It's a good idea but it just doesn't control him by the muzzle at all.

Puts pleasure back in to walks
It's normally a chore to walk my gsd x and when I get him my back and shoulders ache he pulls so much. Then my Canny Collar arrived, as soon as I tried it on him he lay down. I have just got back from a test run with the collar and OMG it was a joy to be out with him, at points the lead was even a little slack, he did paw at it a bit but I'm sure he will soon get used to it if it means he now gets more frequent/longer walks. Now I'm considering getting my Jack Russell a Canny to see if it can work its magic with her.

Would be great for 'normal' dogs!
Not easy to use with a Springer who gets so excited at walkies times he runs round in circles. It has slipped off his nose a couple of times but not sure how. Whilst it still isn't perfect, it's certainly the best thing I've tried for my little nutcase. It seems to be good quality.

Does exactly what it says on the tin
I can't praise this collar enough. It got to a point where I hated walking my German Shepherd. 40kg of dog pulling is no fun! Then I came across this and thought I'd give it a try. I have spent a fortune trying to correct his pulling, from collars and leads, to sending him to trainers. This worked from the first time I used it. He walks so much better, if he starts to pull he stops almost immediately. Walks have started to be fun again. Definitely recommend this.
