DAREDEVIL BY CHIP ZDARSKY VOL. 3: THROUGH HELL

Zdarsky is doing excellent work at taking what could be a some what trite “Back to basics” or character rebuilding story and turning it into a definitive run. This volume sails by but has great moments that really fit the Daredevil ethos. Elektra’s presence - and Checcheto’s great design for her - is a big help as she gives voice to a different era of the character. The Kingpin arc in this is very good as well and seeing a former crime lord deal with billionaire politicos is pretty interesting and a good move for the character. Overall a stellar volume and a really good run, despite a somewhat rocky start to the run.

Every once in a while, if you are lucky, you come across a book that transcends the medium. Brubaker did it with Captain America. Alan Moore did it with Swamp Thing. Tom Veitch did it with Star Wars Dark Empire. And, Kurt Busiek (along with Cary Nord's perfect art) did it with Conan The Barbarian.Chip Zdarsky's run with Daredevil is perfect. The characters are great. The stories are great.This will be a long remembered, iconic book.

I can be a fairly harsh judge of comic books and more series disappoint than delight me right now. This one delights me: the art is very good, the story is as adult as a comic book about guys in tights is likely to get, the plotting and dialogue are both well written, and it even touches on larger issues.In this work, both DD and Kingpin struggle with their identity and slowly emerge more as themselves. Both stories are well conceived, though Kingpin's is arguably the more interesting. If I have a gripe with the volume it is the underwhelming reintroduction of Electra... honestly more could have been done or she could have been saved for later in the storyline. Regardless, an excellent read and worth a reread. This is a series to watch out for.

Matt, Wilson and Cole suffer new problems and realize their old ways aren't working.Solid entry but weak new villians in the Stromwyns.

Zdarski is writing the best Daredevil since Frank Miller. Expanding the consciousness of Matt Murdock to the very root of crime, instead of just dealing with the symptoms!!

The previous volume of this series was in my opinion pretty bad so I'm rather surprised at what a turnaround this ended up being. A large part of that might be due to Marco Checchetto's return as artist. I haven't seen many other artists' works convey action as solidly as his and even with the help of Francesco Mobli towards the end of the collection it is still clearly his artwork. After struggling with the decision Matt is back in a mask once more (not the Daredevil mask mind), and a good thing too as Hell's Kitchen has begun to spiral further out of control. Though still somewhat clunky Zdarsky's writing has greatly improved since we left off. To start he actually takes the time elaborate on some of the more charged social topics he brought up before though I still can't say I agree with his view of the world completely. I still find this portrayal of Matt and now Wilson Fisk to be lacking a level of complexity but I am kind of beginning to enjoy the side-characters such as Detective Cole North and the Libris Crime Family though what I said before applies to their arcs as well. Surprisingly, I'm more optimistic about this series prospects again. Here's hoping Volume 4 continues this momentum.3/5

Mature, intense awesome Chip Zdarsky knocks it out of the park with this one. This run so far has little human moments with a fast pace action packed read!

Multiple extremely engaging storylines with very fun character work & amazing character development for Matt & detective North. I really can't think of a single negative for this entire comic, quite literally perfect.

Terzo volume tp dell'edizione americana del Daredevil di Zdarsky. L'autore approfondisce sempre di più la psiche e i tormenti di un Matt molto umano, le debolezze di Kingpin, ci mostra un'Elektra "guru", e tesse una trama davvero intrigata, degna dell'omonima serie Netflix.Checchetto ai disegni è sempre top, e la sua Elektra è così stupendamente "milleriana"
