Wonderful Christmas story!!
This book was originally gifted to me by friends that spent a year living in Australia. It’s the nativity story told with Aussie animals playing the parts. It is absolutely adorable and a family favorite! I love to gift it at Christmas time.

Beautiful And Heartwarming!
Since the first time I read this book, it has been one of my very favorite Christmas stories. It deals with disappointments and friendships, and the ending is the sweetest ever! Children are fascinated by the animals from “down under” who are the characters in the book . As a preschool teacher, I have read this book to many, many children - and to my own grandchildren- and they all love it!

Cute, Entertaining, & Informative
My students loved that a "wombat" was a real animal and they enjoyed comparing it to the bears we have in America. I loved that it was about a nativity play and they talked about Jesus - but don't worry it isn't anything that would cause trouble unless you work for a school district that is afraid to offend anyone & they don't let anything but secular things discussed at this time of year. It is a different story, cute characters & illustrations, and not the norm you might hear around Christmas time...just my kind of book.

Charming Christmas Story
My boys really enjoy this book - both for its sweet message and for the charming illustrations of Wombat and the other animals in their Nativity dress. We received as a gift from a friend and I ordered multiple copies to give out this year.

Beautiful Christmas story...
If you are looking for a different type of Christmas story for your children this season, I highly recommend this one. A friend from Australia sent this to my son and we absolutely love it. It has a sing-songy verse, adorable illustrations, and a beautiful story-line that is just not your "standard" Christmas story. Poor Wombat desperately wants to be a part of the Nativity play, but there is just no part he is suited for - except - the most important part of all! I'm buying several copies of this book to give as gifts. Get a copy for yourself - you will love it.

A little shorter than expected, but still a cute book for Christmas time!
We enjoyed this book. It was a little shorter than I expected, but we are still glad that we have it.

Love comes in all shapes and sizes
Using this book to teach that acceptance of differences and encouragement should be part of what we do everyday.

Very sweet
This is one of our favorite Christmas books. It's a sweet story with animal characters who are collaborating to put on a nativity play. I love the mix of whimsy, but with the message that Jesus is the most important part of the story. It's beautiful!

Heartwarming Christmas story about a cute wombat
What a find! My daughter had asked for "wombatty stuff" on her Christmas list and we already had all of Jackie French's wombat books, plus Michael Morpurgo's, and hadn't heard of this one before, but it is lovely - all about the challenges a wombat faces when auditioning for a nativity play. Which role is best? I won't spoil the plot, but the conclusion is perfect and the whole story is heart-warming, especially for those who love the traditional Christmas nativity play and, er, wombats - not two things you often see in the same sentence together. Highly recommended.

a christmas message
This book at first just seems to be a great Christmas nativity story with lovely pictures and all the animals from Australia. However when you read it you'll realise that it combines a special message that is often overlooked at Christmas time. One of the characters says 'it wouldn't be Christmas without the baby Jesus'. A great read to the young children but also the chance to remind them what it's all really about and why Christmas is celebrated.

Cute!
This Christmas story is so adorable, and one which I feel could be easily related to by all - the stresses/panics of who will be chosen to act in what part of the Nativity is a drama close to all of our hearts I'm sure!
