Excellent Beginning Book
As a music educator looking for musical etudes that are accessible to the beginning clarinetist, this book was perfect! It features about 20 different etudes that focus on the main range of the clarinet in a variety of styles and keys. I highly suggest it, especially for the price!

Another reviewer called this a beginning book. It's more intermediate, and probably suitable for the typical student after 2-3 years of private lessons. "The First Book of Practical Studies" by Nilo Hovey would be a book that would sequence well into this one, and be closer to a beginning level. "The Progressing Clarinetist" is a very good book, and I use it regularly with my students. The choice of keys, range, and stylistic considerations all make it a solid choice for the intermediate student or more advanced sight-reader.
