Bear trap pedals are secure, but can make your feet hurt.
I should have checked this out more before ordering. These are all-metal "bear trap" type pedals. They're good for keeping your shoes on the pedals in the mud or wet. They're not great if you will be riding in the dry with flexible-soled shoes for very long rides. These start to hurt after 20 or 30 miles. The photo seemed to exactly match what I was trying to replace: My mistake.

For the price, I doubt you can find a better pedal
These pedals arrived very quickly, even though I chose the cheapest shipping option, I got them within 3 days of pressing "order now".Mine came with reflectors that look easy to pull off, so I pulled them off. I plan to put them back on a bit more securely later. They are very lightweight and are solidly made. The bearings need to be broken in, but once they are, the pedal spins smoothly. The thing I like the most about these pedals is the grip. It was wet outside today, but my feet felt like they were glued to the pedal (in contrast to my old pedals which felt like ice when wet). All in all, for $10.25 you can't find a better pedal. I've seen worse pedals that cost (and weigh) 2X as much.On the bike they look fresh and shiny, but I doubt they will stay that way for long. I have not dropped my bike or crashed since putting these pedals on, but the pedal looks very sturdy, especially compared to the nylon caged ones that they are replacing.I'm very satisfied with these pedals.Don't hesitate, if you are in need of platform pedals for your hybrid/road/MTB/whateveryouareriding, get these pedals now!note: 9/16 is the standard size for most adult bikes that were built after the mid 1980's. If you don't know the size your bike takes, check the size of the spindle at the diameter of the spindle threads, not the diameter of the hole in the crank arm.

Nice and light, but the bearings are a bit stiff and need lube
I can't give these five stars because A) I haven't used them for more than a few hundreds miles yet and B) I had to open up the little plastic bearings covers and lube them well to get them to move smoothly initially. As some other's have said they are a bit stiff, and the bearings inside really need some lubrication.Once I did this though, they spun much easier and they seem to work well. You'll feel the metal points grip your sneaks real well in these and they are quite light. There is a tab and slot on one side of each for putting toe clips on, they don't interfere with my use of them in any way. After I get a few thousand miles on them I'll be able to evaluate their long term use, but a similar set I have from many years ago are still going fine with seemingly no wear and many thousands of miles of use on multiple bikes.

Decent Set of Pedals
Bought these to replace some cheap plastic ones that came bundled with my bike. The black metal chips easily and has done so. The corners are also very sharp, I have cut the back of my feet several times. Perhaps that is just my fault. After putting a couple of miles on the pedals they finally started to loosen up, although they're still pretty stiff.I added these straps to the pedal: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EVRJT96/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Of course, they work better with platform pedals. However, I feel like they're fine on these ones as well. It just takes some shimmying.Overall a pretty decent set of cheap metal pedals. They serve as good replacements for cheap plastic or resin pedals that are bundled with most lower-end bikes.

Good deal for budget pedal
If you are not going to use these with toe clips or power grips, you probably want another pedal (like BMX diamond pedals or "bear traps". If you don't use clips or straps, saw off the kick tabs, or bend them under with big pliers. If you are heavy (180lb +) or do serious BMX or jumping, maybe you need a full-metal pedal. If you just ride for commuting or are light, this is fine. Works with common toe-clips and straps. The bearings are dry when you get these! Drill a small hole in the outer dust cap, and spray them full of white lithium grease or funnel gear oil into them. These are probably the best you are going to get for under $10, and the cages are grippy! Good deal.

Durable and fairly light for the price, GOOD VALUE
When I first got the pedals I thought they were heavy until I took the stock pedals off of my bike which were more then twice as heavy. The reason I like theses pedals is 1.because they are lighter then some of the 50 to 200 dollar pedals at 288g, 2. "THEY ARE VERY DURABLE, Don't listen to the negative reviews that say they are not, 3. they are such a good value for the low price! The only thing that I could possibly see as a negative is that if you are walking with the bike and the pedal hits the back of your leg you may get cut. The reason you may get cut is because of the ridges that make your shoes stay on the pedals are some what sharp around the edges WHICH also grip very well. I personally think that in the photo these pedals look some what cheap but once you see and touch them you can tell they will hold up for a very long time and a lot of abuse.

Not smooth at all
I purchased these pedals knowing they were inexpensive and definitely light duty but they were for my 11 year olds bike so I knew they would not be physically taxed but would still be abused by scraping the pavement, etc. The pedals are decent quality and I have no issues with their construction. However, out of the bag one pedal spun with more effort required than I expected and the other would not spin a full revolution without "catching" and binding. It has the sensation of a flat spot on the bearings that when the shaft reaches the flat spot, it settles into it and stops rotating. I know there is no flat spot but that is the best way to describe the feeling. In contrast, we cannot feel the binding when riding the bike but it is still there when you try to rotate the pedals with your foot or by hand. I thought the stiffness and binding would work itself out as the pedals were used more but it hasn't. So they are usable but not what I expected from new pedals. My issue doesn't seem to be what the average purchaser can expect but it is how my set of pedals arrived - So take it for what it's worth.
