The Penny Lure Kit by Muddy Bros - Up to 40 Fishing Spoons and Spinners from Pennies!

This was bought as an Xmas gift for our 11 year old son who loves anything to do with fishing. We wanted to get him a gift that he could use for awhile and that would occupy some of his time. He absolutely loves this kit and the quality seems to be top notch. The lures are easy enough to make but still take time so it's perfect. This comes with a little jig that you insert a penny into and then manually crank in 2 handles which punch the holes into the penny. You then choose the holographic stickers to place on the penny and then add the rings and the treble hooks. He has a little bit of a hard time getting the rings on so I usually help him with that but everything else he does by himself. I'm not exactly how many lures this can make but I would guess probably around 50 or so depending on if you use one penny or two on the lures.

I bought these kits to use as a 4-H craft. The kids loved them and overall they were a hit! They were easy to build - teen helpers/older kids punched the holes and attached the split rings/hooks and the younger kids picked out their decals, etc. The contents of the kit needs adjusting though. We used the split rings from 3 kits to complete approx. 2 kits worth of penny lures. There were enough treble hooks to make 6 kits of penny lures. The penny punching jigs only lasted long enough to punch about 50 pennies each before the threads wore down (we were very careful not to 'over twist' the jig). For the price, I was hoping to be able to use the jigs more since there were plenty of hooks and decals leftover.

Used with a cubscout group kids and parents loved it... I pre punched the holes to save time and good thing as the hole punch stripped out and died towards end. If I could have ordered a second set after seeing the first and had it in time I would have awesome project.

This was my son’s favorite gift last Christmas! He loves fishing and spent the winter making his lures for summer!

I actually got this for my brother for him and his kids to make their own lures together, needless to say they all loved making AND using the lures. Good idea!!

I bought this for my brother to keep bust in the winter months. He had a good time showing us how it works.

I bought this penny lure kit for my son’s birthday. He made about 10 lures with it, and then it stopped working. It seems like the screws that punch the holes in the pennies are stripped. It is otherwise a neat kit, and my son was enjoying using it, but I feel for the price I paid we should have gotten much more use out of it.

Grandson loved it. But I think my son liked it more. Was very pleased with this item!
