German For Dummies Audio Set

I am using this guide to prepare for a trip to Germany and Austria. I am a "dummy" who knows very little German. The set combines audio guidance with a pamphlet that tracks the audio. So you can hear the word or phrase first in English and then in German while reading the same in the pamphlet. The package fits my needs perfectly.

My husband and I are attempting to acquire German as another foreign language. We thought this would be helpful to add to our library. We've been using some online tutoring as well as friends and family, and have a few books by Berlitz on German. As an addition, It is good instruction, but couldn't have been more boring.I have to admit, I am sorry I bought it, but will keep trying to use it, as it's good to have correct pronunciation. I haven't made it through the first CD yet. This actually de-motivates me. I will update this review when I get a bit further into the study.Sra. Thought I would be able to use CDs in car, but I find that I need the written word in from of me to be "see" the sounds. That may not be a problem for others, but needed us use the book with the cd. I think once I get the sounds in my mind this may no longer be a problem with practice.

I like this product, you actually get to see the words and then hear them. I So hope this dummy can learn this to hold up my end of a conversation. Learning to write the words are helpful when you have people write to you. The CD arrived in very good condition.

My granddaughter will be deployed next winter to Germany. I bought this book for her to learn some their language.

I can't order a beer yet - but working on it

Not as easy as I thought it would be. I wanted to learn as I drive a lot, but I found it necessary to follow along in the book in order to understand the German translation and I couldn't do that while driving..

I have recently come back in contact with a long time friend from Germany and he speaks fluent German but, I lost the ability once i moved away back to the USA. This guide is allowing me to pick back up on phrases and have conversations with him. My goal is to become fluent just as he is by 2014 if not sooner.!

For the price I paid for it (two pounds something) this has been just an OK investment. Much of the audio time is merely composed of the recital of lists of words. Useful of course, but one can't help feeling they missed an opportunity to add many more useful phrases for travellers and businessmen.Also, there is little attempt to assist with grammar and word order.The audio recordings are high quality and the pronunication practice is useful. I made a list of some expressions from the audio which might prove useful to me, but otherwise this product has little practical benefit for me personally.3 stars.

Yeah as I am going to be working in a German speaking nation soonish , I wanted to brush up on German with less expense compared to taking classes and rosetta stone software . This is great as it has a great book with translations and has the audio which has the German words with English translation .Fantastic .Next buy will be Spanish and Arabic and Chinese. I will get the next level up for German .

German for dummies is a great intro product, it enables you to get a feel for the language. Pretty basic but good all the same, very easy to follow, and I felt that the learning was sinking in, in a logical sequence, great for someone who want to get a feel for German,before making the decision to move on to more advance kearning

just to get about moving around and surving in a German speaking country, its pretty good.The CD def. helps and the text reference and translation to English is quite good for any one to start speaking some basics.
