EKO Phantom-T 50 Liter / 13.2 Gallon Vertical Motion Sensor Trash Can, Brushed Stainless Steel Finish

I was hesitant to spend this much money for a garbage can. A couple of the reviews mentioned it kept the dogs out. We recently took in a foster dog & every chance see got I'd catch her in our garbage can. With this new garbage can she cannot open it with her nose so it works perfectly.The garbage can did have a few little dents but I just used a rubber mallet to make them less noticeable.I love the look, ease of use and the fact that it keeps our doggy 🐕 from diving head first into the garbage can. What more can you ask for & that fact alone makes it worth the price.Update:I was expecting that the batteries would not last long because we are constantly using the garbage can. To my surprise it's August 2024 and the garbage can is still going strong and we haven't had to put in new batteries yet. Just an added positive to this buying this garbage can.

I looked at a number of these “trash bins” and they ranged in price all over the spectrum. I finally decided with this and I have no complaints whatsoever so ever. The construction is impressive and the operation is reliable and SILENT! Highly recommend the brand and certainly this model, it’s sleek and easy to keep clean.

this does not need special bags. I use regular 13 gallon bags, and they work great. I have the phantom model (butterfly lid), and it is a great trash can. The non-liner variety does hold more, and this design, while being space-saving, still makes it quite easy to remove the bag, there is no issue with the vacuum resistance, slides right out. No problem with the ring, I slide it inside the bag, and fold it in, it stays secure. Good response, smooth action, I love the fact that you can use the buttons to keep open and close. It does take 6 batteries, which is a lot, but considering how smoothly and reliably it operates, it is well worth it, especially since I have no outlet at the end of my kitchen island for an ac option. With regard to fingerprints, there is some resistance, and the stainless cleaner takes care of any water stains, etc. I had a lot of trouble finding just the right trash can, so I would not judge by any negative reviews without knowing what you need first hand. Especially, when it comes to the absence of a liner, or special bags needed.

Though the trash can is quite nice on looks with design, but it first came dented up and Amazon was quick to replace with another that wasn't.Though BIGGEST concern and issue is the automatic lid IS NOT operating as it should. It doesn't open everytime now with you motion your hand over the sensor, and/or doesn't close either if it does open. The batteries I changed out to keep it fresh with power, but this didn't work on the issue. The motion detection does sense you, it just DOESNT WORK!!! Basically a waste of $100 almost for a shiny non-working trash can. Not a great product I feel when it doesn't do what it's supposed to do.

EDIT: One year later, and I ended up deciding to order another one of these after my first mishap... I'm really pleased with this product. I've only had to change the batteries one time, I get a lot of complements on it, and it continues to work very well.Honestly, don't know what happened the first time. I guess I just got unlucky, can't get it out of my head though. If that had never happened, this would be a 5 star product!Previous review: I really wanted this product to work, and right when I unboxed it and set it up, it seemed like it was going to be amazing. I put in the batteries, set it all up, and the motion detection was awesome! I was very excited.Then I put the battery cover on and it immediately stopped working. No motion detection, no opening, no nothing. I opened the battery cover to discover that it had completely short circuited and melted all the plastic through the control unit in the lid. Very unpleasant and quite scary. Maybe I would try it again... but I'm nervous to do that now... seems like it could be a fire hazard. I made sure the batteries were all properly aligned with the correct polarity, so this was definitely just a defective unit. Amazon issued me a refund, going through support with the company seemed like it would be challenging. At least the refund came quickly! Too bad... I can't recommend trying this product.

well built, put batteries in it, install a bag, turn it on, go. Nice stainless look and finish. doors are sturdy, well designed. I am please2 weeks in use and the electronics failed.. my family and I really like this self opening kitchen garbage can, it is also well made, so I submitted a return and selected to receive a replacement, same item. Amazing Amazon delivered a new unit the next day. I swapped out the opener portion and all is great again. Would still highly recommend this product and thank you Amazon for making the return/exchange a smooth efficient process.

There is nothing quite as aggravating as researching dozens of items…making a decision…only to find out the item DOES NOT WORK AS DESCRIBED. This item clearly was supposed to have a manual option as well as a sensor operated option. IT DOES NOT! There is NO MANUAL OPTION. Not only that, if you contact the manufacturer, the service team is completely unaware how these items even work…so no help there. There is one single on-off switch. If you put it on, the unit just keeps opening and closing by sensor. If the switch is off…the lids WILL NOT OPEN. There is no manual way to open the lids. You either select sensor or it sits there..useless. Even worse, if anyone goes near this unit, if a counter is near it, or a drawer…this sensor will keep opening the lids. There is no way to stop it! The description for this item is totally misleading, Bottom line…if you want a trash can with a manual setting…or worse, if YOU NEED a manual setting, you will never be able to use this trash can. This company needs to accurately describe its products. Put this trash can near anything…or if you have no choice.. and it will open and close constantly. If that is ok, then this is a great trash can. If you need to manually open and close, avoid this item.
