Kid friendly
The compasses help the kids to understand directions. It has edges for them to mark their directions on paper.

Seems like a nice item, but Corners are Sharp
Not as bright as the picture shown in ad. The corners are rather sharp, so I will have to warn the 8 year old recipient, yet I’m sure she’s be pleased.

For a Boy Scout
I purchased this compass for my grandson who is a boy scout. It seems to be a sturdy, useful instrument to take on hikes and camp outs. It has nice features in addition to the compass itself, such as the measurement scales and the magnifying lens for map reading. This is a Christmas gift so I don't know yet about the accuracy of this compass, but it appears to be easy to read. This instrument is a nice size and doesn't seem that it would break easily.

Far too fragile and inaccurate
This is taken from AOFAR’s description.AOFAR Orienteering Compass AF-5C for Hiking , Boy Scout Compass for Kids - Professional Field Compass for Map Reading ,Navigation and Survival Lightweight - Mini Camping CompassThis compass is too fragile, the needle does not swing well nor does it ‘settle’ unless very level and will hold position if slightly turned a few degrees making it about as accurate as looking at the sun. I have several very old official ‘Boy Scout Compasses’ that are far more accurate and far more durable than this.I removed the compass from its box then from the cloth sleeve. Looked it over briefly, then returned it to its sleeve and box and placed it on my desk. I intended on using it for my boat navigation on several lakes as I mapped certain areas I frequent, cross reference locations with obvious features on the maps then mark those references using my Garmin GPS cross-referenced with the compass on my maps at home. I never intended to use this other than at my desk.I pulled the compass out of the box, then out of the cloth sleeve at my desk and one corner of the plastic base was broken. I know it was undamaged when I first opened it. Evidently, when I returned the compass to the sleeve, then to the box, I used (without realizing) just enough pressure to actually break one corner of the base completely off. I have dropped plastic base compasses, metal compasses and expensive navigation compasses before, and never broken a single one.You get what you pay for and this inexpensive compass is too fragile to even be used inside on a flat desk much less for “Professional Field” use.

Very high quality and functionality
All materials seem of high quality and the compass works as designed. The plastic enclosure around the compass has handy measuring calibrations and enhances the overall utility of the device. Excellent product for the price

Great little compass for the money
Looked at several online and for the money, it's a great little compass.

It has only ONE JOB...
It looks really nice and is easy to read, however, it doesn't point north. The needle sticks. If I try to hold it level and spin slowly in a circle, the needle spins with me.
