Understanding Fiber Optics

Very poor print quality + same content as the 2005 edition
The poor rating I am providing here is related to the print quality of the paperback version (and not the book contents). The book is well organized and covers most of the important topics related to fiber optics; however, it's almost impossible to read more than a couple of pages without eye fatigue and headache. There are many technical books on the market that are offered in both paperback and hardcover versions, where you don't really notice a big difference in print quality. A basic quality control would have convinced the author to not offer this version in its current form.Another important note: be aware that the author has offered this 2015 edition as a reprint of the 2005 version. In other words, the book content has not been updated based on the latest advances in fiber optics. This can be misleading to the reader, especially if someone is looking for a more recent publication.

Not Formatted for the Kindle
Very difficult to read on the 8 inch kindle. Looks like someone just copied the pages from the book.Text is pale and small at full page. Information would be helpful if someone had taken the time to do it right.

But the print quality is very poor. Recommend buying hard-cover version
Fast delivery, and affordable price. But the print quality is very poor. Recommend buying hard-cover version.

Excellent resource
This book provides an excellent, up-to-date review of fiber optics, including light sources and a review of the physics of light and fibers. It is a must-read for those who need to understand optics and fibers, a constantly changing environment that Jeff provides a rather complete snapshot of. I heartily recommend it to readers with a range of skill levels.

Good Read for a Textbook
It's a textbook for class, but it's actually pretty readable! It's interesting to read, and the chapters are actually pretty short.

Great for into and advanced photonics
This book really lays a solid foundation of FIber Optics. The diagrams are very helpful but sometimes go into too much detail for it's scope.
